Kotor 2 won't even start up

Alright all of the sudden I decide to play Kotor 2 and suddenly it doesn't even start up. Every time I click on GAME in the launcher the screen fades to black and gives me this error message "Starwars Knights of the old republic 2 has encountered a problem and has to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Now I have reinstalled this game 3 times. I have tried almost every trick I know. Including updating it to the latest version. But that doesn't work either.

Here are my system specs

If it's any consolation mine does the same thing now

I haven't trouble-shooted it much since I'm changing systems here soon.. however I have a sneaking suspicion it has to do with Suck-Urom 7 (Securom 7)

It seems to happen everytime I use a cd/DVD writer drive in order to attempt to play the game (installs fine).. but I took out my normal drive (non burning) weeks ago so I can't test out the theory.

If you have such a device, might try running it on that drive for giggles. I know it's how I 'used' to get it to work. ;)
