DeadYorick Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Alright all of the sudden I decide to play Kotor 2 and suddenly it doesn't even start up. Every time I click on GAME in the launcher the screen fades to black and gives me this error message "Starwars Knights of the old republic 2 has encountered a problem and has to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Now I have reinstalled this game 3 times. I have tried almost every trick I know. Including updating it to the latest version. But that doesn't work either. Here are my system specs [sWKotOR] ReportDateTime=8/10/2008 3:20:17 PM SysInfoVersion=v1.00.60 GameExists=1 GameVersion=v2.10.427 GameInstallLocation=H:\Kotor 2\ [OS] Name=WinXP Version=Windows XP v5.1 build 2600 Service Pack 2 Service Pack=Service Pack 2 Status=Pass [swapFiles] C:\pagefile.sys=1536 [CPU] CPUCount=1 CPUSpeed=2660 CPUFamily=15 CPUModel=4 CPUStepping=7 CPUVendor=Intel CPUName= Intel® Pentium® D CPU 2.66GHz Status=Pass [Memory] RAM=2048 Status=Pass [Disk Free Space] C: (NTFS), UNICODE=38.62GB D: (NTFS), UNICODE=51.42GB H: (NTFS), UNICODE=242.58GB Status=Pass [CD-ROMs] DriveLetters=E:\,F:\,G:\ Drives=HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10A [Video] Video Card Name=NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache Video Memory=256 Desktop Resolution=1360x768x32 @ 60Hz DirectX=DirectX 9.0c (4.09.00.0904) OpenGL Version=1.5.3 OpenGL Vendor=NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL Renderer=GeForce 6200 TurboCache/PCI/SSE2 NVidia Driver=6.14.10.7124 Vid Card Status=Pass Vid Card Driver Status=Pass GL Status=Pass DX Status=Pass [Audio] Sound Card Name=SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio Status=Pass ;Game Options from swkotor2.ini [Display Options] FullScreen=1 Disable Movies=0 Disable Intro Movies=0 Sort Modules=1 Width=640 Height=480 BitsPerPixels=32 RefreshRate=60 [sound Options] Number 3D Voices=30 Number 2D Voices=64 2D3D Bias=1.50 EAX=2 Sound Init=0 Disable Sound=0 Force Software=0 [Graphics Options] EnableHardwareMouse=1 FullScreen=0 RefreshRate=60 Width=1280 Height=960 V-Sync=0 Texture Quality=2 Anti Aliasing=0 [Game Options] Disable Movies=1 [config] firstrun=0
ChAiNz.2da Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 If it's any consolation mine does the same thing now I haven't trouble-shooted it much since I'm changing systems here soon.. however I have a sneaking suspicion it has to do with Suck-Urom 7 (Securom 7) It seems to happen everytime I use a cd/DVD writer drive in order to attempt to play the game (installs fine).. but I took out my normal drive (non burning) weeks ago so I can't test out the theory. If you have such a device, might try running it on that drive for giggles. I know it's how I 'used' to get it to work.
DeadYorick Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 Never mind I got it to work. I restarted my computer and reinstalled Kotor 2 one last time and it worked properly.
