Hayden Kered
I would like to know if there is a way to correct the pixelation created by a .jpeg format? Example: This image looks as if the ball has clean edges, but when trying to recolor the background it looks like this: I know this is due to the colors blending together when the image is saved as .jpeg. Is there a way to clean up the edges around the image, perhaps converting the image to another format, or do I have to continue using patience and a steady hand? I am using Paintshop Pro 7 and Gimp 2.
leXX
Here you go: I basically selected the white background with magic wand, inverted it and moved it to a transparent background using Adobe Photoshop. You can then put it on whatever background colour you like...
Hayden Kered
I really wasn't asking for that "example" image to be transparent, I was asking how to do so with the two programs that I have. Especially with highly detailed images that have major .jpeg blending!
Astrotoy7
There must be someone around here that knows GIMP well enough, surely... I was looking into this myself just recently.. Im a n00b when it comes to image manipulation. I found hopping straight into Photoshop is an expensive and perhaps daunting way to go about it... I am having a great time using the wonderful and free paint.net and making my way through the beginner tutes and how to's... The tutes about backgrounds, cutting and transperency are the most commonly used. Im glad there are things like paint.net and GIMP around.. by the people, for the people y'all ! good luck mtfbwya
leXX
Well I know nothing about GIMP, but I'm sure you can do the same thing I did there with Paintshop Pro. They have basically the same tools.

Im glad my tablet pc was a wacom digitiser as its touch based interface, saves me forking out for one I dont do images that much to justify buying a separate/professional graphics tablet, but then again you can only do so much with a mouse mtfbwya
