Wildstar
Are one or both of you behind a router (something like a DSL modem would count as one)?

Wildstar
I'm not sure if a cablemodem (as opposed to DSL) would need to have ports forwarded, but you can definitely ask your ISP's tech support if you need to. If you have to, you'll need to forward TCP 6073 and the UDP range 2300-2400 (if it doesn't give you an option for either TCP or UDP, don't worry...forward those ports anyway).
