RoxStar
I could really use some swampie expertise on this one: I bought a barebones PC kit from Tigerdirect yesterday. I assembled it today and the damn thing would not power on. I stripped it down to just motherboard and processor and it still won't power on!!! I have done the following: Tested the power supply in another machine Tested the power switch for the case on another setup stripped out everything except motherboard and processor and nothing happens. No lights, no fans spinning, no noise. Not even the light for "phantom power" (meaning power on via lan or usb) lights up. Now here's my question: Do I need to return my motherboard or processor? Both are Intel and I honestly can't believe that I purchased a dead component. The processor is an Intel Q6600 and the board is an Intel Desktop DG35EC. Help me, swampies, you're my only hope! The Seeker
Start with the Motherboard. Power access in a PC goes, Power Supply, then the motherboard gets power and POST then the CPU accesses the HD. With no activity happening and it's a legit PSU, then start by sending back the motherboard. If the motherboard was good, it would at least POST and go to the BIOS before crashing or telling you nothing's happening.
acdcfanbill
I was going to add something, but The Seeker covered everything
jon_hill987
If it was a kit, then surely you can send it back as a whole? Or did you purchase them separately? Either way I suspect the motherboard.
