CaryMG
Wow .... "Jedi OutCast" [JO] is, quite simply, the greatest game ever made .... Never in any game have a felt so much a sense of place -- like I'm really there in that enviornment. You look at a spot & think "Oh man -- according to every computergame I've ever played, if I wont be able to move 'cause of the barrier the graphics throw up. Not so with JO. You can look at a spot & say "I wonder if I can go down there ...." & not only can you but, somehow someway, it's an integral part of the enviornment that leads you to other places that, again, make it seem as if you are really there: like you'd be able ta do in real life! Even after you accomplish whatever task you have to do, you can just walk around & explore the ultradetail. I was lucky enough to find a copy of JO on eBay & I bought it. After much work I got it running on my Intel MacBook. Elated, I thought: "Hmmmm -- the InterNet's so big, mayhaps there's a website dedicated exclusively to JO." And sure enough, here I am! lol I just wanted to give kudos to whoever created this & offer my hearty salutations ! Incidentally, as I mentioned my JO's for Macintosh computers. Will mods, like the new SP maps mentioned in another topic, work with my copy? If not, are there Macintosh SP modmaps available?
Ham Yoyo
I agree 100% JO is totally awesome. I bought it for the PC the day it was released and it was the most awesome gaming experince of my life. Its still my favorite game today. After playing the latest games on the 360 the gameplay of them still doesn't measure up to JO. I also bought Jedi Academy for the PC so I recommend that game. I think all the mods and levels are just for the PC. If you have a PC that will run Jedi Academy I would get that because most mods and levels are for JA. tiefblau
All JO maps also work on Mac. Just put the .pk3 files of the mod into your ~/Library/Application Support/Jedi Knight II/base/ folder and run JO. (For some maps to work you might have to open ingame console and type 'map <mapname>' to run them.) Also, like Ham Yoyo said, get Jedi Academy. All the cool new mods are released for JA. CaryMG
I certainly will pick up Jedi Academy ! 3 quick questions .... 1] I'd like to play without the CD in the drive to save batterylife. Someone suggested I make a diskimage of the JO disk & play with that, but when I try ta make a diskimage, an alertbox pops up that says there's trouble with the file or some such .... It's a real gamedisk, not pirated -- I bought it from eBay. Any help, please? 2] I want to play online but the Universal Binary patch doesnt activate multiplayer. Is it possible to play JO online with an Intel MacBook ? 3] I downloaded the SP map Hoth-Imperial Base. On my own I thought to look for any .pk3s but I looked in every folder -- there're a lot of 'em lol -- and I couldn't find any. I know I'm doin' something wrong on my end -- what is it? And my Application Supportfolder doesn't have any Jedi Knight data in it whatsoever. Sorry ta be a pain in the neck. lol
tiefblau
No idea about 1 and 2. About 3: Try to download it again from this thread. Looks like there was something wrong with the file. Also you need the Library/Application Support/ folder in your home directory, not the one in root. Once you copied the pk3 into the correct place, open the console at JOs menu screen (I do it by pressing '>', but I have a german keyboard, don't know if that makes a difference) and type "map imphoth_a". Hope this helps. ^^
CrisG
yes, pls delete the Imperial Hoth Base files if you downloaded them recnetly from my thread. i had prepared to move the files to a new home as FileFront was closing down but then they re opened...so i had the wrong files up for a while, the correct pk3 file is now here: http://files.filefront.com/ImpHothV3pk3/;13648156;/fileinfo.html and to bring down console on standard US keyboard, we press ~ and Shift welcome and good luck with your other issues. I play with the game disk in the computer as that is what it requires. I do not know about the multiplayer issue with Mac, but you can hoepfully find help here or from Lucasarts main site, tech help section. They are quite helpful and i am sure they can sort it out for you.

CaryMG
First let me apologize for the late response. @Tiefblau & Chris OH. MY. GOD !!!!! Thank you so much the help & the data that my 1st download wasn't the right one & by clicking the new link I'd get the right data and also, once I have the data, how to run it !!! I was just so so afraid that it "wouldn't work", y'know ? It works like a charm and the detail .... I'd absolutely swear I was playing a hidden level made by LucasArts & Raven. The craftsmanship is absolutely stunning .... I especially like the falling snow & how each snowflake is individually rendered so as you pass them or turn around they change orientation accordingly, not as if it's an overlay of some sort. All I can do now is quickly download the other Jedi OutCast user created mods & just enjoy the truly masterful efforts behind them. This forum does have a great fellowship & a commitment to quality. And it makes perfect sense since Jedi OutCast is really one of the top 5 games ever made so it follow that it's adherents would reflect those ascended heights. @Ham Thank you for your telling me of your experience. I've now heard from enogh different people that there's no way around playing without the CD. But after seeing these mods it is a sacrafice I am absolutely more than willing to make .... Kurgan
Can you pack that updated ImperialHoth file with the documentation and so forth in a zip? Thanks.
Forceboat
Hey, Kurgan! You mean the original readme file? Oooh, I am not sure if that is available or not, unless Chris has it. I'll do a little poking around and see if I can find it. UPDATE: No luck on finding a copy of the file with a readme. Unless Chris has a copy of the readme, maybe you can get in touch with THX_Tk421 at his email address: THX_Tk421@hotmail.com. He might have the readme, I don't know. This map is very rare; I can't even remember where I found it at before, LOL. The only place that had it before as a zip file was pcgamemods.com. I must have downloaded it and only kept the pk3 or something, I am not sure.
