Fiestainabox
Notepad++ and EditPlus are great free text editors. Netbeans is reasonable, but it's mainly for Java, I'd avoid using it. Lastly, If your just doing TSL and K1 scripting, Kotor Tools Text editor has it all.
Lord of Hunger
If you want an Office style program, get OpenOffice.org 3.0. It's free and IMO better than Microsoft Office. Otherwise Notepad is good. http://www.openoffice.org

ROTNR
Um... Well, it really kind of matters what you are scripting in. If it is .nss scripting, I would say just Use KotOR Tools Script Editor (The TXT in grey lettering) but if it's C++ then I would suggest using Microsoft Visual C++ or Dev-C++ it's free and you can get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/ (MSVC++) http://bloodshed.net/dev/devcpp.html(DevC++) Dev-C++ has not been updated since 2005 though, so you may not want it. Also, I do most of my scripting (HTML, PHP, CSS, Python..etc) in Notepad. Hope this helps, -Pete
