KOTOR I & II skins/retextures

Been looking around a bit and found a few of these that look good. But I'm wondering what the best one is. I'm getting amped to play SW:TOR and I never played these so I'm looking to sit down and beat them both, but I would like to bump the graphics to as up to date as I can. Don't really care about other mods as I wouldn't know exactly what it was changing as I havent played before.

 

If the mod doesn't work for both games thats fine, just wondering the best for each, if it ends up being 1 mod they gets them both thats just a bonus, thanks for taking a look.

I wasn't sure where else to post as it seems everything around here is instructions how to make mods, or forums where to post your new mods.

 

But I took a look over in those forums before, looked as top replies and such and it seems the most popular mods are not graphical updates. Looked at the other sites in the stickies too and seen none, 2 of the site were hard to sort through though. There is a mod thats on the first page of this forum that is what I am looking for, just wondering if there was any better.

 

I'm sure they are out there, kind of surprised there isn't a sticky of the most popular mods of each type, but ty for the info I will keep searching

Honestly checking out the kotor files on filefront is your best bet. The trick with graphical update mods is that there are some that are universally regarded as an improvement, but most of the time it really comes down to personal preference.

 

For instance I made a new skin for the mando's that made them all basically look the same short of a different shoulderpad. The base skin was taken from one of Shem's mods. Not that I didn't like his, it was just personal preference that I went the direction I did with mine. So what you'll really want to do is just browse through some of the sections and find some that suit your tastes.

 

A couple favorites are:

 

Bastila Improvement project (mod that redesigns her model a bit and skin, its exactly what it says, a big improvement on the stock model.)

 

Pretty much any skin made by Darth Jaden is a hit and Drewton is cooking up some really excellent stuff right now as well but I don't believe Drews has been released yet.

 

There are texturing improvements of virtually every planet, korriban and dant have some great ones.

 

Best of luck in your hunt for graphical improvements, there's alot out there.

Yeah, the best thing to do would be to browse filefront for skin mods. However, as there are multiple reskins for the same characters/objects, it can be a little tricky to know which to get.

 

Here are some for Kotor 2,

 

Angelus6 SkinPack Creatures and Common NPCs;88471 (If anything, grab the high resolution V_Hammerhead from there)

 

Drewton's Nihilus: Lord of Hunger is my personal favorite skin for that character.

 

 

Keep in mind that you can pick and choose which skins you want, you don't need to use a whole reskin pack.

 

I'm kind of jealous. I wish I could erase my long term memory and play both Modded kotor and Kotor2 anew.
