New hairstyle for Bastila

 

I have a question, I want to change the hairstyle of Basti namely it should receive those from Taepalee. It´s a mystery to me.

 

To Explain: I have seen a similar work, however, with the hair style of Terena Adare

 

How do I make this? With Gmax?

Which game is this for? If it's TSL, it might be possible to substitute model files. So Bastilla is using Taepalee's hair model instead of her own.

 

If it's KOTOR, you'll have to do it from scratch since the only other way would be porting...which is illegal.

Depending on what you want to do, this can be fairly easy or more tedious. If you want to change the actual shape of her hair (i.e. go from her hair down to a ponytail), you'll have to edit the head model in gmax (in order to form a ponytail, for example) and then edit the texture file for the head to accomodate the edited head. If you simply want to change the hair a little bit (color, for example). You will only have to modify the head's texture file. Look in the tutorial sections of Holowan Labs (at the top). You should be able to find tutorials guiding you through both head and texture modifications.

I told you this a while ago LOH, and I guess I'll explain it again, but I'll make it as simple as I possibly can.

 

TSL doesn't have some of the customization that other games (JA, Sims), so you can't just mix and match different parts of one head model onto another. The most you can do is move around some vertexes, and, if you have the ability to, make new polys/vertexes, and then you weight them to the head, so that they aren't just floating in midair behind you as you move your head around.

 

@Queen: The most you'll be able to do is edit the existing head to resemble Taepalae. Unless, of course, you want to remove bastila's hair and completely replace it with Tae's. That would require:

-A new UV Map/texture

-Vertex re arranging

-Weighting

 

Head models don't support a second texture, like other models, (weapons, full body models...) so you wouldn't be able to take Tae's hair and not have to re-map it so that it fit Bastila's texture.

One is able to change the hair I know, I have done myself often enough with Gmax, however, I had to substitute, actually, outside the hair of Basti really with the hair of Tae. This is able to become difficult is completely clear to me. Are there, nevertheless, anyhow instructions like one this does? Impossibly it cannot do his there it another Modder with the model of Terena and Basti has done.
