Modelers thoughts on MaskHooks

I've been using Settokens New Head thread, along with Quanon's replies, to add some MaskHooks and GoggleHooks to a npc head that doesn't have any hooks. For those who don't know, you need these hooks so npc can wear masks. Anyways-I was able to compile the head so it shows in game, but the masks are always sideways. Also, I lose the animations on the face.

I used mdlops0.60alpha1 to compile fyi. Any thoughts from experienced modelers on how to maybe fix this. I'm out of my league here.

Hmmm, perhaps you could try Mdlops 0.6 alpha 4.

Its crazy, but there are 3 version out there of Mdlops, they all have their good use and evil side in doing certain things faulty.

Another modder mentioned that leaving a certain part of the Hex edit out did it for him.

But thats a reall hit and miss tactic, which could take a while to get good results.

Other standard advice is to ResetXform the dummies, before linking.

Nothing else I can add really, never did this myself.

where can i download mdlops alpha 4...I can only find alpha 1...

Edit: I'm messin' around with the hex edit and moved the MaskHook and Gogglehook string before the talkdummy string....based on pcarthh.mdl...the hood now is on straight but too far back on the head...might take some trial and error..I have no idea what I am doing.

ok I moved the MaskHook and GoggleHook string again..this time based on the ncoortah.mdl..this npc has hooks already...the hood is straight and covers the head ok, but slightly off-center...maybe if i go back to gmax and move the maskhook and gogglehook dummies...

It sounds like your on to something more with the Hex Editing, I'd keep at it with that method even though it can be tedious. Don't give up!
