gumpy
I was playing the Amiga version of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and shot down 9 or so planes in the bi-plane section of the game, and then I ran out of fuel and crashed. I then took the car and found myself at the last check point. The Complete Guide for the game states that you need to shoot down 16 planes in order to make it to the last check point. Is this an error in the guide or is their a difference between the Amiga and DOS versions of the game? http://indyguide.mixnmojo.com/lcindex.shtml
ATMachine
You only need to shoot down all 16 planes if you start up the biplane at the airport. If you launch the biplane from the Zeppelin you're already halfway along your route and thus skip some of the checkpoints.
adalsgaard
You only need to shoot down all 16 planes if you start up the biplane at the airport. If you launch the biplane from the Zeppelin you're already halfway along your route and thus skip some of the checkpoints. You need to shoot down 18 planes (18 is the maximum amount) if you start the biplane at the airport, in order to reach the last checkpoint. The (otherwise excellent) guide is off target at this point. The only way to reach the last checkpoint going by the Zeppelin is to fly the farthest possible (worth 15 IQ points when you reach the plane beneath the Zeppelin) and shoot all 9 biplanes. Your description matches this scenario. Flying shorter than the farthest by Zeppelin will NOT get you to the last checkpoint, even if you shoot down 9 biplanes. The length travelled by Zeppelin combined with the number of planes shot is decisive for which checkpoint you reach.
gumpy
So to get the max IQ points from the Bi-Plane sequence you need to start from the airport then?
adalsgaard
So to get the max IQ points from the Bi-Plane sequence you need to start from the airport then? Yes. You'll receive 5 IQ points when you've shot 6, 12 and 18 planes respectively (15 IQ points in total).
