newbiemodder
Quanon's and Disbelievers pics have inspired me to try out modeling a new area. Mind you I know nothing about modeling. I followed Q's tutorials and was able to get my area into game and able to walk around a simple square area. It looks ok for starters. Question - how do I work the walkmesh around objects that I create in the walkable area ie. bolders, rocks, pillars, etc. I used a simple plane for my walkmesh area but I'm still walking thru my 'objects'. I've tried changing the elemental and face material i.d. to non-walkable on the trimesh of my object, but that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated. Using Gmax and for TSL
disbeliever
Are you speaking of making random things inside the main walkmesh not walkable? If so, you can use the line tool to make your walkmesh, and then use the line tool to draw different shapes that will not be apart of the walkmesh. Basically draw the main walkmesh first, then attach lines for areas you want unwalkable
newbiemodder
That's exactly what I want. I'll try it out, but follow-up questions may be coming. Edit: Ok so under the shapes button I select line...used the line tool to create outline of my object in this case a boulder..what next do..do I convert to edible mesh..then assign the material id to this area..attach or link to the walkmesh?? cannot seem to get it too work..help... Edit: I got it working...frickin awesome...thanks dis.....FYI for anyone else...used line tool to draw my boundary mesh..then used line tool to outline individual obstacles like pillars, boulders....attached them to my main line..renamed it walkmesh...converted it to editabale mesh...then under polygon button on modify tab..selected each polygon and assigned material id..
