What were they thinking with CnC4?

So I gave CnC4 a whirl the other day, and it sucked big time. They turned CnC into a dumbed down Action-RTS-RPG game.

There's no base building. All you have is a Walker unit that builds everything. You also only get a certain amount of "command points" to spend on units, but you're going to have to earn experience to unlock all the good stuff.

And let's not forget the DRM. EA keeps saying CnC4 has no DRM, but that's bull****. You have to be connected to the internet to play the game, and if you lose connection for any reason, your data won't be saved.

So if you're undecided on whether to get CnC4, let me decide for you: Pass.

P.S. EA's DRM isn't doing any better than Ubisoft's.

 I agree with you completely. The only reason I got it was because of the story and because it's supposedly the last C&C in the Tiberium universe. What a disappointment it turned out to be even in that regard, at least when it comes to the Nod campaign. I'll finish the GDI campaign today and probably forget this game ever existed. This game is C&C only in name.

Short answer: They weren't. EA has been successfully demolishing the CnC franchise since they first bought out Westwood Ent. Of course, EA never thinks through any of their games, their only intent is to capitalize on a good title by making an expensive and sucktacular sequel. RA3 sucked, CnC3 was interesting but overall poorly done, yeah, it's been a major downhill slide.

People don't get why we want to play RTS games anymore. We don't want fast action and quick decisive battles. We want long, drawn out, war. We want to show that not only can we kick butt, but we can kick butt while being totally untouchable too.

Even though they say it's the "Last CnC" which it darn well better be considering the terrible quality, I have no doubt EA will try to milk it a little longer.

Also: I have no idea what's up with everyone making "play it online" games. I DONT WANT TO PLAY ONLINE. That's what MMOs and multiplayer matches are for. The internet should not be a requirement for a single-player anything. Bleh, don't even get me started on DRM too. The guys who keep thinking THAT's a good idea need to be taken out and flogged.
