RpTheHotrod
I'm looking for a good sound card that has at least a midi-in so I can record with my keyboard/piano. I heard that midi to usb doesn't work that well for working with keyboards. Any suggestions? I do my gaming through my headphones, so that bypasses the sound card...so this sound card would be dedicated to recording music.
PR-0927
This post won't be too helpful, since I know little about soundcards and little about recording. I just wanted to post to let you know that gaming by headphones does not necessarily bypass the soundcard. I have an Asus Xonar DX in my rig, and it has a connector to the front panel (of the case). This way I can connect my headphones to the front panel port, and have the sound channeled through my soundcard, rather than my motherboard's onboard audio controller (which I happened to uninstall after installing my soundcard). And if I wanted to, I might have been able to connect my headphones to the back of my rig to my soundcard...although I don't think the wire is long enough to. - PR-0927

I use 7.1 surround sound headphones which connect via USB...so it doesn't go into the sound card. It has it's own built in sound card.
PR-0927
I should add another piece of information. I use 7.1 surround sound headphones which connect via USB...so it doesn't go into the sound card. It has it's own built in sound card. Ah. Yes, I did not foresee this. I would suggest going here and asking questions: http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23 That place has been eye-opening for my computer skills and hardware enthusiasm knowledge. Someone there will surely be able to answer your questions. - PR-0927
