Black screen on turret mini-game?

Every time I do a turret mini-game, all I get is a black screen with sounds! I can still shoot, but I can't see! Can someone help? Oh yeah. I have K1. And no, I can't just warp, because I'm on the part where you find the star forge before you crash on the unknown planet.
