News
This week’s update is a look at the processes and ideas that are behind the maps we’ll see in game, and how they not only look great, but are practical in terms of gameplay (by introducing ‘breadcrumbing’, for instance), while aiding and encouraging exploration of the game world. It’s a comprehensive and very interesting read, [...] Read the full story at starwarsmmo.net...
Darth Avlectus
Pretty good. Normally maps are a dime per dozen and a real shot in the dark. It has a large world map and smaller maps to denote exactly where you are in such a massive world. Usually I don't have problems so long as deciphering the map doesn't take an advanced degree. It's when you get the abominable map and crap for features that you really start to get annoyed. Still I am glad they are making a map for TOR that is at once comprehensive yet convenient and locally targeted. That's a real nice feature. It isn't something you'd normally think about but if this ends up being an exceptional and helpful feature, it may set a standard for future games. A new precedent as it were. Or maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about.
Tommycat
Most maps in game are at best rudimentary. These are very nice and detailed. Kinda groovy.
adamqd
I'm more of a Sacagawea when it comes to exploring but they are mighty purdy maps
Tommycat
Yeah, I love exploring. It's the whole world that I like. But it's nice to have a map to figure out where in the world you just found this amazing spot. Like in SWG. There's that mountain lake on Tatooine surrounded by palm trees...
