Also, that universe might be further ahead than the main one, as Lord Tedd at least appears to be somewhat older than Tedd. Also, I'm guessing that Elliot's transformations will start to alter his clothing as well.

Tedd is a Kind hearted soul, the only thing I can see making him go over the edge would be a great tragedy in his life. And in the sketchbook, it showed him with his arm in a cast, that could mean that he was abused or beaten. maybe his version of Elliot or Ellen was not his friend, maybe they were bullies and eventually one of them sent him over the edge.
