Favourite MI game

I now this topic has sorta been done before, but that didn't include EMI. Now, I think it's fair to re-assess the topic with EMI included. So, without further ado (ado, ado!), rate the four MI games, in your opinion, from best to least-best.

That's the second chicken I've ever seen! What with me being a pirate and all. I don't see many chickens in my line of work.

What? Stop looking at me like that!

1. Monkey Island 2 - LeChuck's Revenge

1. The Secret of Monkey Island

2. Curse of Monkey Island

2. Escape from Monkey Island

Personally, I don't think EMI and CMI should be compared to SMI and LCRm because their in 2 different time-periods. SMI and LCR came almost at the same time, with only one of two years between. Curse an Escape doesn't have very big a gap either. I don't thik MONKEY 1 or 2 would sell much if they would be released for the first time today. Of course--- I would buy them ;-)

If only we had as much graphic adventure games as Star Wars Games!!

yeh, well I reckon Escape's the best, not that I've played the first two. are they any good?

Jos kiddin'!

Seriously though, Ron Gilbert *was* monkey island. MI1 was the first proper PC game I bought, and it blew me away. And the sequel was one of those rare things; a new installment which built on the back of the previous one, and improved the formula.

Alarm bells started ringing when the new producers for MI3/4 were interviewed about their style of humour and said "Yeah, we're big fans of 'The Kids in The Hall'."

Curse was a huge letdown after the first 2, and with Escape, Lucasarts have just come over all Sierra, commercialised and missing the point: Guybrush and Elaine's 'relationship', his character, the in-jokes.... Oh! It makes me cry.

They've really raped the arse of this licence. Either bring back RG, or let MI RIP.

Sorry if you like the last2. But it's like having a dead friend dug up and dressed as a bunny girl.

And another thing.........

Quality control has gone waaaaaaay downhill in these games. Have you seen the 1.1 patch?

It's not just for glitches, but on a lot of machines you actually need to download it to complete certain puzzles!

And even that hasn't fixed my crash - I'm waiting for L/arts Tech support to get back to me, as it crashes during the chess game.

moan, moan, moan.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Chucky, but what is wrong with the humor of "The Kids in the Hall"? Do you just think it wouldn't apply to MI or it just isn't funny. I'll agree with you that a lot of the humor of Kids is physical, but I think a lot of it would work good in a game like MI. They use a lot of irony and they are very good at poking fun at pop culture. I think they took the worst of Kids and put it in the games, not the best.
