Boba Jim
Ok then, so who gets to use the latest and greatest saber colors, Plaid, Corduroy, and Velour??
ayfex_twinFC
somewhat off-topic... the original SW toys had a yellow saber for ANH Luke and ESB Luke. I'm curious as to why they decided to give his saber that color.
acdcfanbill
umm, things like are usually goof ups on the toy makers part, sometimes the 'wrong' color toys go for big money i hear...
C.H.A.S.
I think it will be neat if they come out with a demo where you can test saber colors. As well as play a level and that type of stuff.

Guest Kurgan
As long as you can choose your saber color in MP, I'll be happy. And being confined to just the three "movie colors" would be dumb. Hey, I wonder if they would do it in such a way so that in Multiplayer, if you pick up a saber off of a dead jedi, you could use both (dualing sabers) or trade your's for their's (so you'd have a new saber color)? Might be interesting. I'd like to see the double-saber used by a special player class, or else as a weapon pickup/upgrade in some MP map(s). That'd be interesting. ; ) Kurgan
Saient
Ok about the saber color I agree that in single player it would be cool if you could change it to your liking unless Lucas And Raven have tied Blue into the story line much like in the original where you loose one lightsaber and attain another. Another cool thing would be to choose Skins for Kyle Unless that also is a part of the Storyline and I was just wondering if Raven was designing the lightsaber and game around a standard 2 button mouse even though 3-4 button mice have become more popular. I think that if they did design lightsaber action around 3-5 mouse buttons it would allow for more sophisticated Saber handeling and combo's and blocks..... Just a thought...People who are unfortunaltly stuck with a 2 button mouse could also use keys but if I were designing the game I think 3-5 buttons on saber handeling would be sweet. but back to the colors -- Multi should be pick color for a given ... let me know what you think... acdcfanbill
this is exactly what i had said earlier, we need to be able to customize our five mouse buttons in the game...
C.H.A.S.
Mabey they could use the roller for something like vertical swings.
Jedi Howell1587246488
I believe, in one of the QuakeCon previews that one guy asked why KK's saber was blue, and the guy opened a console and typed something like 'sabercolor yellow' and then the color changed to yellow. This might suggest an ability to choose saber colors during the single player campaign, and pretty much confirms the ability to choose a saber color for MP. jh
wardz
jh, I think thats for demo purposes, I hope they don't let you do that in-game. hey Raven, just make it blue or green and I'll be happy... wardz
acdcfanbill
saber color is based on crystal, so there is no way to switch it, unless of course, you go about ripping your saber apart, and switching rocks inside... i agree, that this was just for demo purposes, to show you can for MP, or whatnot... Jedi Howell1587246488
Oh, no; I didn't mean that that would be how you do it. Not through a console. I meant some sort of interactive way of choosing it. Like there might be a training course or something of the sort, like the Hazard Course in Half-Life, and you just choose what color saber you want to have. Or maybe you might be able to switch with a Dark Jedi you defeat. jh
GonkH8er
howell, you just brought up an interesting point. we all know the characters may lose their sabers. say 2 people were to lose their sabers simultaniously, and picked up eachothers....... is that to say they would switch colours? that would be kinda cool. or even if it was after their death. kill someone, scab their stuff. possibly even have more than 1 saber? perhaps a maximum of 3 or so (one can only fit so many sabers on one's belt) which you may chuck away and pick up at will, and switch between..... hrmmmm the more i think about that, the more inviting it sounds....... Jedi Howell1587246488
Sounds like a good idea. Although, this also brings up a problem: if your going to have lightsabers retain their original color, why not be able to choose other features? As seen in Jedi Search by Kevin Anderson(?), Gantoris has a dual crystal lightsaber that changes length; in TPM, DM and his lightstaff, and Corran Horn in one of the NJO books with his dual crystal lightsaber that changes color as well as length. I think some customization options should be: 1. Length: Have a few, predefined lengths to choose from 2. Double-bladed: you get the idea 3. Akimbo lightsabers: one per hand 4. Color obviously 5. Handles: choose one of maybe 10 6. Dual-crystal saber: two crystals; for alternate select new color(can keep the same) and length 7. Water-proofness: can activate saber underwater without frying one's self and/or one's saber. Without this property, one will be fried and/or so will the saber, in which case you'd have to wait to respawn or maybe pick up someone else's lightsaber before you can dual again. Maybe have a special key to toggle crystals or take out second saber or activate second blade(for dual crystal, akimbo, and double-bladed sabers respectively). Any ideas? jh
Guest Kurgan
Well the only issue with starting weapons is game balance. If you have a guy that starts with two lightsabers verses a guy who starts with one, the dual guy is going to have an advantage. So you'd have to give the guy some disadvantages or something to make up for it, or else in order to win, everyone would just select the dual lightsabers option over the single. As to the number of simultaneous lightsabers, it might be interesting as a "force power" (or skill maybe) that you could select (at the expense of other skills) in MP such as "ability to use two lightsabers at once). So in an MP game, all Jedi would begin with a single saber, but say the people with the dual saber skill would be able to grab a second saber off a dead Jedi say (much like you could pick up a second Enforcer in UT) and then they would be able to use two. But a person without the skill couldn't. Or maybe without the skill you could pick up two, but not be as proficient as somebody with it. Lots of possibilities there... I would think being able to use variations on sabers (big, small, number of blades, number of simultaneous sabers, etc) would be a GREAT feature, it would require more work to balance it of course, but it would be cool in an class-based MP module. On the subject of choosing visual stuff like your lightsaber handle, color, clothing style, model, sounds, etc that stuff would all be easy to do, and would be fun and neat (UT and Quake3 have some limited use of this type of thing, like choosing your "handedness," the color of your railgun shots, etc in addition to the usual choose your skin/model etc). For the sabers I'd like to see RGB sliders for the core and the blade, that would give a lot of possible combinations, and maybe allow users to use a preset handle or custom textures from a directory on their hard drive (but then that would require autodownloading, but maybe that would work). That's another thing.. auto downloading would be a great help with distributing mods. However I think there should be a way to have the mod STAY on the person's hard drive, like in a special folder, so if they want to keep it, they can, but if they want to delete it, they can as well. I don't know if Q3 has this problem, but when I use the feature in UT based games, the mod only stays on my hard drive for as long as I'm connected to the server. So if I reconnect, I need to wait for it to download again... ; p But yeah, the more useful and fun options, the better, it'll keep me coming back for more. Jedi Howell1587246488
OK, how 'bout this system for balance: A F_Saber Skill type thing. Then, you choose from features for your saber, and the more stars('suming there's a star/point based force power system) you have towards saber skill, the more features you can use. Example: You would need 4 stars to saber skill to use a double-bladed saber, and then you can't choose any more options other than appearance. This way, a single-bladed saberer wil have an advantage in force powers over the dual or double-bladed saberer. Sound decent? jh
acdcfanbill
mmmmmmmmm, well, maybe that would work, or maybe that would be annoing, IF raven/LEC decide to put the feature in, im sure they'll get it right...
