Guest DarkShade
Well, Finally I managed to download the demo over the weekend, I have to say, overall it is *great*, but I do have a few minor gripes.. 1) the pummel... what was a designer thinking??? a *battering ram* ??? in star wars? hallooooo??? I thought the game was supposed to be different to AOK, and all the units do look great <artillery could use a bit more range tho> but the pummel just does not fit at all in the star wars universe.. 2) minor ai quirks, maybe this was just because it is a demo, but the target selection of the ai has some problems, with defenders sometimes doing nothing while a battle rages right next to them until you manualky ask them to get involved... 3) are shield generators not a wee bit too strong? what about making it so the shield gens themselves are not protected by their own shields? not a big deal though, but this little change might weaken defense a bit, and defense <at least in the demo> rules in the game. 4) network code seems not to be ready yet.. well at least in the demo, while playtesting it I found some lag issues with internet games. other than that , the game seems great, am definitely going to buy it when it is released in europe. Guest om-99
dude the pummel is a laser not a battering ram and the ai is probably because you havfe it on easy try hard its way better
Guest dr_death
have you tried bringing down a shilded fortress down with anything but a pummel. i was playing some guy and he was shooting at my fortress with loads of units but my shild generator was regenerating faster than he could dammage it. without the pummels the game would be much harder. i would not change the strenght of the building though! Guest WC_heavyarms
Ok, pummels are the thing I think are the most important to the demo, so I will make my statement. You need pummels in the mp because artillery can't kill fortresses. They will be blown away. You will lose every time. And the easiest way to take down the shield generator is not to get the shield generator, but the power core. This does 2 things: one, the shields go down instantly. two, his unit production is slowed. NOw after you killed the core, you kill the shield generator so it can't be remade. About the ai: if they have targeting problems, they may be on defensive stance, which means they won't attack unless shot or hit. Change it to aggressive and they will fight. Guest Maul403
pummells are lasers...artillery is not supposed to have more range thats what the blaster cannon is for(trebuchet) no shield generators are not too strong if you take out the power core(s) the network code is fine..you either have 56k or you have broadband playing someone with 56k
Paragon_Leon
it looks like power cores and shield generators are the main targets in anyone's book.. There will be a lot of games revolving around them. I like the Pummels. It takes me too long to bring down buildings without them..
Guest Admiral Thrawn
I love sending in 7 Pummels and razing the entire base. ---
Guest ReaperFett
I hate pummels, but doesnt mean they should be cut. You just live wih it, before sending in the N-1s
Guest WC_heavyarms
They don't suck. THey are needed for a tech 3 rush to knock over castles.
Guest dlayers
The lag you encountered was probably because you were in Europe playing against people in other countries. Lot larger network to travel through which, in turn gives you a lot more chance to get lagged. Factor in people playing with 56K connections it could get ugly. Also there are quite a few Aussies who play, and if your in Europe, he was in Australlia, and you 2 were playing against 2 Americans...well, good luck. EndSub
I think the Net code rocks! I was playing a friend (1 vs 1) , who lives pretty much on the other side of the world to me, were both on 56k (he hosted) and there was little to no lag! Paragon_Leon
very nice... can't wait to go online and play as well. Remember that Pummels are decimated from the air.. So they always need to be protected by anti-aircraft vehicles.. It's give and take here as well.
Guest WC_heavyarms
Leon, pummels are not decimated by air. They can stop pretty much anything that has lasers and just keep going. You need jedi ready to stop them.
Paragon_Leon
In my previous GB game, I used my airforce to attack a horde of pummels marching up to my base.. They were decimated alright...
Guest Maul403
but if you have broadband and play someone with 56k..the broadband guy will lag like crazy, it sucks
Guest DarkTrooper
true leon but in tech 4 when u can get hvy assault mechs like the AT-AT which i think can attack air then air is toast. the superlaser would slice through them like a warm knife through butter
Guest Darth G
nah... i dun think that the ATATs can attack the air... they specifically attack the ground only, i think they're pretty vulnerable to an air attack

Guest WC_heavyarms
Leon, how many fighters did you have? and how far away were the pummels? These are all factors. If you tried one fighter vs one pummel about halfway from your base, consider it half destroyed, saying youhave no towers in it.
Guest ReaperFett
my only real worry is in some user-made maps theyd be unstoppable(very small, tight ones). I think most would have the brains to remove unbalancing forces though

Paragon_Leon
I used a small airforce of about 5 fighters against his squad of four/five pummels.. they were half a screen away from my base and never reached it..

Guest Admiral Thrawn
Why does he always talk in caps? Wel; anyways, AT- AT's can shoot at air, if you have read the Gamespy review for the Empire and Rebels you can find important info like this
