Heretic II : Cooperative Players Unite!!

I just read that Heretic II by Raven (I loved the demo btw, but never got around to buying full version) supports full-blown cooperative play (multi-player completion of the single-player campaign).

I just ordered Heretic II from ebworld for $6.99. What a deal.

Anyone want to play Heretic II coop?

Well, that depends on the person. It might matter to those who want to order the Full Rack with appetizers tonight instead of just the Half Rack with a glass of water. I like to dine large. And be subtle. :)

Cool diablos. Do you ever play coop mode or mostly dm/bladematch? Good to hear the community is still around.

Just got H2, will try it tonight.

Krayt, you are entirely too cryptic! Sounds like you need extra bandwidth so you can get your ribs and water.

Heretic 2 is an awesome game. Somewhat Jedi Knight-like in that it has projectile weapons and spells. And also allows you to play with emphasis on melee using the bladestaff, if you wish. Includes a 'staff only mode' for melee-only combat. The bladestaff is a powerful weapon and can stand up in a projectile battle.

H2 has more melee moves and movement combos than Rune. Includes 3rd and first person view and stick support, a flexible, adjustable camera, scripting support for binding sequences of commands to keys or buttons to automate tasks. Dedicated servers, DM, team DM, full cooperative mode. Plus there are arena and skull hunter mods, a CTF mod, as well as a class-based mod. Wish I had picked this up years ago! Worth well more than $6.99!

Reconfiguring Heretic 2 will make a big difference in your game experience. This includes rebinding defaults and scripting actions to improve player control.

Findal's Binds has some very useful information on configuring Heretic II.

For example you can bind spells to keys Jedi Knight style like this in your user.cfg file:

bind r "use *morph"

bind 2 "use *tornado"

bind 3 "use *meteor"

bind 4 "use *lshield"

bind Alt "use *quake; use *ring"

bind Ctrl "use *tele"

Or, for instance, here's my script for a first person/third person view toggle (on the F1 key) :

// Frist Person, third person toggle

alias third0 "cl_camera_fpmode 1; cl_camera_fpdist 1; wait; cl_camera_fptrans 0.0; alias camalias third1"

alias third1 "cl_camera_fpmode 0; alias camalias third0"

alias camalias third0

bind F1 "camalias"

Findal's main page also has a lot of useful information on configuring HII.
