What do you do with rude people

Its such a disappointment to be reminded that our GB community aren't all good and nice. Most people that I play are good about winning and losing. Some might even ask for help or give some advise and tell me what I might have done wrong, but tonight there was one that was just rude.

I played with a guy that was just plain rude. He told me that I was a f#*%ing rookie and that I sucked. We played on Team Island and that was my first time to play on a sea battle. I told him that, and thats when he went off. I'm not going to go on and say that I'm great and all, but I'm ok. I don't really consider myself a rookie. I've won and lost my fair share.

Like I said its just disappointing to see that the comradery(sp?) isn't always there. Have you received this kind of treatment or am I singled out?

Sounds like most on-line jerks. How soon everyone forgets that they were once a rookie.

I have never played GB but play CS when ever I get a chance and there are a ton of rude people.

Some one plays a game for a week and all of a sudden they think there a know it all.

Like some of the guys have said, play only with people you know andthen when you get better go find this guy and whip his behind.:D

When reading the newsgroups, there is a feature called the "kill file" that is quite useful. When someone is rude or obnoxious on the news group, you just add him to your killfile, and you will never see any posts made by him again. It's kind of like an "ignore list." These are wonderful features that allow you to avoid the jerks that float around out there.

I suggest you make a little file on your computer, or even on a sheet of paper, and call it youre "GB Kill file". Write down (or type in) this guy's ID callsign, name, or what have you. Promise yourself that you will never play with him again -- and keep the promise. Then whenever you play with people in the future, if anyone else acts like this guy, put that person's name into your kill file. Eventually, you will compile a list of jerks you refuse to play with (it will probably become depressingly long -- my killfile's become huge over the years, and that's a rather sad commentary on human nature). But at least it will help you stay away from people like this.

Gaming should be pleasurable and fun. A way to escape the annoying aspects of everyday life. You should not have to put up with those annoying things when trying to have fun.So... don't play with the guy ever again. Ignore him. Simple, effective, and saves you a ton of grief.

May the Force be with you.

You will always be welcomed to play with me Nerf.

That's true there's a lot of f*ù$^ bas*ù*ù people ;) who are really rude with the others. That's the kind of guys I like to beat.

Chessack is right we are here to enjoy a game and to relax just ignore those persons. Yesterday for example I played against the Knights of light (KOL) and my ally apparently wasn't enough quick for a DM and one of the KOL I think it's flameknight or sthg like that just said : "I smell a rookie"

I find it was very nasty for my ally. But one of their member (really cool) "attrain" told me that he was used to that now...

Thank you all for your reply. I will make a Kill File so not to play with these types of guys. I thought at first that I was just griping about my experience, but I guess there are some out there that feel the same way I do. I just want to play and have some fun. And maybe, if I know the guy well enough, give a little rubbing in for some good arse wooping :D

I guess I'll be looking for my regulars from now on. BTW do you guys play in the Zone? I'm looking for some people to play with and I have a few on my friends list but its not all that extensive. What time do you guys usually play (PST).

Trust me, there are loads of people that just hate you, and really do (antpocas!) anyway, I have made a lot of enemies for one reason or another. I hate fights, I like to play with nice people, most are. Most aren't too arrogant. The arrogant ones are sometimes in the experts games. They get angry when they think you too much a rookie!

The only way I'd do a multiplayer game is if it was with friends I knew outside of the GB game itself... People I play on other games like MUSHes with, or people I know personally, like a buddy I have in California who likes AoE and has been pondering getting GB. I'd never just start up a game with someone I didn't know from Adam.

For you to get started, let me share mine with you:

Started a list like this a couple of months ago for the GB community. It can really be recommended.

-alpha by name-

Charging_Knight (Heavengames): Requested a GB No-cd patch.

Muggratt -Location (Zone, Galactic Battlegrounds Trial): -QUOTE (Bobio)-

I was hosting a game, and a guy named muggratt ended up on my team. He wasn't doin much of anything, except being annyoing. he owuld only build famrs in my base, not his, and never attack the enemy when I did, even though he had a large army. Anyways, this little retard decides now to attack me, even though he's on my team, with artillery. I would have just attacked him, except teams were locked. He kept on dropping more artillery in my base, so I just decided to quit, I don't care about loosing the game (I would have won if it wasn't for him though)

-QUOTE-

Kane156 (Zone, GB trial): Hosted a game with a password and gave that password to a group of players. Once we all joined, he started being rude and then he just booted us.

I don't have GB yet, but I've played other games against people I don't know (like XWA)

I've never run into a sore loser, or just plain jerk before, but if I did, I would probably just ignore his idiocy, and play like I normally would.

Seriously, who cares if someone calls you a rookie, or anything else, just enjoy the game, just because they rude, doesn't mean you can't have a good game against them, just ignore any insults they throw at you.

I was in that game yesterday dude. I was the one co oping with flameknight and me and him are good buddies. He always says stupid things like that but he doesnt mean anything by them. He was just having a joke with you, but you didn;t really see it as a joke at the time.
