Natty Posted January 10, 2002 Share Posted January 10, 2002 TWO little girls are shattered after callous thieves drowned their beloved puppy in the family pool. Tiny dachshund Bella was kicked in the ribs by the cruel burglars then thrown into the pool and left to die at the Hertzberg family's East Brighton home. Sisters Lauren, 7, and Alex, 10, returned home with parents Harry and Elizabeth on Tuesday afternoon to find their seven-month-old pet floating lifeless in the pool. They spoke tearfully of their pain at losing their little friend. "She was very playful and I loved her lion's paws," Lauren said. Alex said: "She could go and go on forever." Harry Hertzberg said his daughters were devastated. "The girls found her in the pool, just floating there," he said. "I've never, ever seen something like that. "I've never seen two little girls so devastated. They're still coming to grips with it. "I don't know how anyone could do that to a harmless little pup. "I don't care what they're doing. "It's heartbreaking. "Things just don't get any worse than this." Mr Hertzberg wrapped Bella in a towel and took her to a vet where the girls insisted on a final goodbye. Police believe Bella may have barked at the burglars, who retaliated. The Hertzbergs lost $6000 in goods, including DVD players, a Hyundai mobile phone and a Yamaha stereo. But that loss was nothing compared with Bella's fate. "She was so happy," Mr Hertzberg said. "She had energy to burn -- 24 hours of energy. "She was special, a well-natured pup. The stuff (the stolen goods) doesn't mean anything. "I would really love to catch the person to see them put through the wringer." Mrs Hertzberg said the family's other dachshund, three-year-old Hugo, sniffed around the pool where his playmate perished. "We got Bella because he (Hugo) was a bit lonely and we decided to get him a playmate," she said. "Bella was feisty and speedy and she was just so wonderful. They were like opposites that attracted." Lauren added: "She wrestled with Hugo and they played round together. He's been looking in the pool, looking for Bella." Sen-Det Steve Cornwill, of Brighton police, said the little dachshund, at 30cm tall, would not have presented a threat to the burglar. "He could have walked around it. It wasn't going to cause any injury. It's appalling," he said. Sen-Det Cornwill said the injuries to Bella were consistent with her having been kicked. ~~~~ I know it's all depressing, but I can't get over how, I dunno how to explain it, I mean if it had been any of my dogs- I'd be so heartbroken, and it's not just the family who have lost a pet, the other doggy has lost his playmate Sorry I've just been having a good cry over it, they looked so helpless on the news before Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There are numerous young people here, and you ripping off swear words in every post you have id really setting a bad example. Then you complain he should be banned, is that not one of the jobs of a moderator? How could I read something like that and then forget it. I really ment I was happier not knowing, because it's a really sad story and I was expressing it in my own way, there was no need to mock me. Guybrush has never said he's right and you're wrong, he's just said he doesn't agree with your opinion. I want you to explain what you mean, coz as far as I'm concerned that's another usless unprooven comment you've just made. You can't expect things to be all happy and flowery all the time- there's a real world out there and at the age of 18, you should realize that. The difference between you and Fender, Guybrush and Feral (I mentioned Feral coz I know he's similar age to Guybrush and Fender) is that they realize there is a big world out there and not all of it is nice. Explain..... Well let's go back to the sexual prefrence. Everyone is attracted to members of the same sex. To make it simple let's imagine that there's no variation in how attracted they are. Homosexuality comes because of the lack of finding the oppiste sex attractive, therefore the same sex is more appealing. Of course technically this sexual prefrence appears to be natural, but we live in what is an un-natural world. When I was 13 I thought of God and Nature as the same thing. How wrong I was. The nature we see it's necessarily natural. I didn't coprehend homosexuality even when I was 16! I still had the idea that because it's a from your "natural" sexual prefrence, and a part of you - where do you go wrong. The Bible tells us that the man's role and the woman's role ARE significantly diffrent and that a woman should never be with more then one man, even after leaving one. Men on the other hand were diffrent. They could take more then one wife if in doing so they did not violate the rules. Now don't jump at me, there was another kind of relationship, one which by a man would, not under compulsion but under love, give his life for one woman only. It was essentually the same except that he choose to be only with one woman. It had always puzzled me what it was, it was true love. Now let's face it, a guy or girl can go and sleep with many people, which is wrong. But they can be pure. If they choose to be Unfortunatly this senario cannot work with a guy and a guy or a girl and a girl. If I was you I'd be worried that parliment house could get blown up any min due to a terrorist attack, or starving children in Eithiopia, my life doesn't revolve around some guy I can't see.
