How about Capital Ships in an Add-On

Well, uh, u see this has been discussed many times before, and Garry even told us why their won't be any capitol ships as yet considered: They are too big. Unless, of course u could change all the Ground units to air units, with Infantry bieng Fighters, but that would be pretty silly.

If they are in the x-pac or sequel or whatever, the only way I could see them intergrated in would be...

You need to be in tech 4

Research an EXPENSIVE TECHNOLOGY

Build a new building like a comm device

then, like in RA you have to wait for the "timer" (such as for nukes & spy planes) and the capital ship will come on a "bombing run" - you set the location for attack and it passes by attacking but you don't control the Star Destroyer it just passes by and to do again you have to wait for the "timer"...

Anyways it's highly inlikely that such a thing such as capital ships will ever make to the game> :)

Well Mercenary, that scenario works with today's bombers, which are deadly enough....

 

But from a ISD, ppl expect absolute annihilation.....

 

And that would be more than unbalanced....

maybe they should be like a superweapon. Imperials w/ Arial Bombardment by ISD's, Rebels with their Ion Cannon, rendering all mechanical units to stop in their tracks and kill infantry, The wookies with their ability to allow units to travel through forests and trees, the Trade Federation with their arial bombardment by the Battleships, gungans with their Shielding and Naboo with a tribute with a good amount of Nova using the Republic Cruiser to deliver it. but i do agree that captial ships used by a player would ruin the game. go play Rebellion if you want to use capital ship.

I'd like to see capitol ships in the Gaia - other section, and all they are are pictures that can be placed onto the space background as eye candy. You could have planets and asteroids aswell. They'd be a nice touch to space battle levels.

A Rebellion 2 might be good, but this time Ion Cannons might be nice? Disable and capture enemy ships? Also being able to yank ships out of hyperspace in the middle of nowhere would be better.

A Star Wars Homeworld would be the best but...:p

what if their was a ground map and a space map and air units couldn't go on the ground map, this would be cool but it would prove big problems for the gungans.

I don't like the idea of x wings shooting troops and workers it doesn't seem right

The asteroids are already a space map and with the addition of the new air unit class seen infrom GB:CC concept art your wish will be granted. It won't be overpowering like a Capital Ship would be.

I like the idea of a com station or relay station in which you could get at say tech 4 that allows you to pay for bombardment from capital ships in orbit around the planet. You would need a spotter unit nearby the structure or area that you want to bombard. This would be very expensive to pay for and would take a long time; but when it happened it caused mass destruction in a wide area of the target location. As a counter; you would be able to build a new structure called a jamming center that protected everyting in its area from orbital bombardment. So there fore players would have to come up with tactics to knock out jamming stations as well as relay stations!:D

I think the Capital Ships would TOTALLY inbalance the game. Maybe the orbital bombardment thing. I think that would be cool. But Capital Ships?! No way! The orbital bombardment thing would make up for GB's lack of Superweapons.
