dazilla
In what kind of videogame does the hero die in the end? I mean, I've heard of that happen in a movie, but I've never heard of a game with a sad ending. Wow...yeah right, although it would be nice if someone wrote a book in the NJO with Kyle in it...i like him cause he's kind of like Han's rebellious nature and Luke's Jedi-ness combined. MercenaryI{aos
I have a magazine that shows the whole New Jedi Order it has in it a paragraph on Kyle (clears throat and takes deep breath) Quote:Gamers might recognize Kyle Katarn from the the first-person shooter computer game Dark Forces ( and its sequel, Jedi Knight, in which Kyle was portrayed by actor Jason Court). Kyle Katarn also appeared in a series of illustrated novels written by William Dietz. As if stealing the Death Star plans and defeating Dark Jedi Jerec weren't enough, Kyle now uses his military expertise to develop strategies to fight the Yuuzhan Vong. UNQUOTE P.S. the magasin is STAR WARS INSIDER:) I thought Kyle had grey sideburns... oh well

I've read all of the ones that have been released (up to Star by Star), and there has been no mention of Kyle Katarn.

Lord_FinnSon
Kyle: "Only your hatred can destroy me!" Dark Jedi: "But I'm on the Dark side already!" Kyle: "Oh I forgot... Oh sh**!" Dark Jedi flips over Kyle and lops off his head. That was a quick and noble end, right? No, really. I don't see any real reason to kill Kyle just when he starts to get some edge as a character. From sarcastic mercenary to Jedi wannabe, who chooses light side, but then suddenly turns to the Dark Side and now walks betwen Light and Dark. That is just a temporal situation though and his ultimate destiny is to become a real Jedi. Now, if I really wanted to see Kyle dying, that would have to happen in JKIII, where he finally was married with Jan and had his own apprentice(maybe his own daughter or son just like Jedi Master Sharad Hett trained his son A'sharad). Darth_Lando
I think Qui Gon is a good example of a "grey" Jedi. He more or less was on the light side, but he didn't follow the Jedi code close enough to be on the council. Meaning he must have flirted with the dark side a bit. Perhaps examples would be manipulating the force for his own will, such as when he controlled Wattos dice so he would get Annikan.
Brick
I have to disagree with that. I don't think that Qui-Gon flirted with the Dark Side at all. He just held different opinions than the people in charge, in this case the counsil. Yoda didn't think that Anakin should be trained, and the rest of the counsil did in the end of TMP, but Yoda wasn't at all tempted by the Dark Side. MercenaryI{aos
Actually Qui-Gon did flirt with the dark side. It was in that kid novel series JEDI APPRENTICE.
dazilla
Yes but that was long ago, I think he was referring to if he was flirting with the dark side by being so rebellious.

I don't know if you've played it, but in StarCraft one of the major Templar kills himself to create a big old energy ball with which to take out the overmind. Quite jedi like, which is somewhat fitting for the templar. Very impressive ending clip, actually has something of a SW trench run feel to it. BTW, has anyone else noticed that Jan doesn't seem to age? Look at the difference between Kyle in DF and JK, then look at the difference between Jan in the two. Reminds me of Anakin and Padme.... ...... ..... ......hmmmm... Except they're getting further apart, instead of closer together.

(I've never played Dark Forces, but I've seen her pic in the strategy guide) Kyle was pretty thickset when he was younger. Haha!

Qui-Gon didn't 'disappear' like most Jedi do when he died. And it is no secret he wasn't allowed to be on the Jedi Counsel because he didn't follow the code of the Jedi. And what I mean by grey Jedi doesn't mean he liked to inflict pain on other people for the fun of it. I just mean he didn't follow the Jedi code which could possibly mean he used the force in ways a Jedi is not supposed to thus making him a "grey" Jedi.
