Com Raven
There's a new preview over at gamestar.de, germany's no.1 both in print mag, as well as http://www. http://www.gamestar.de/magazin/jedi2preview.htm Prob is it is german, but ah well, try your luck with something like babelfish (shudders!!!) Most interesting is the notion of a mission where you have to storm a prison, with X-Wings fighting TIEs in the skies above you ....
Roger
I posted a little translated part of that preview on my site (it's about the x-wings and tie fighters)
Raze
Well, here's my shot at the translation: "There is a good mixture of indoor and outdoor levels. A mission we played at Raven in which we had to storm an imperial jail looked very appetizing for instance. While TIE Fighter and X-Wings were wildly dueling in the sky, our protagonist was greeted by hords of droids in front of the building."

Lord_FinnSon
Raze, could you then perhaps translate whole preview or at least most important parts of it for us? I only know few words here and there and otherwise have to heavily trust my German-English dictionary... BTW, am I correct, if I understood that this preview also talks about JK2 having 25 levels(Kenn only said "over" 20 levels)?
Roger
You are correct. Jedi Knight 2 enthält nach aktueller Planung 25 Levels, die in acht oder neun Szenarien angesiedelt sind. Translation: According to current plans, there are 25 levels. Those are bundled in 8 or 9 scenarios. Or something like that. Raze, Could you please create a translation? Please? Of the whole preview? Thank you! Please?
Sithcloak
If the levels are as large as JK then ... I can see hours of gaming ahead. This is going to be sweet! I am going to have to invite my friends over and play it till midnight, if my dad allows. Sithcloak
nykel007
XW's and Ties fighting while we play sounds cool. hope to have falling debre and busted fighters and stuff like that you have to avoid.
Raze
I would love to give you a translation of the whole thing but I don't know if it's legally fine with gamestar.. I'll post a translation of the core points in the meantime heh. --STORY-- The story begins with a visit to the Jedi-Acadamy where the hero of the series Kyle Katarn receives his Lightsaber from his old mate Luke Skywalker. Equipped with that, we are sent on a mission to find a villain by the Jedi-Cooperative. This assignment leads Kyle to a university laboratory where he discovers a great conspiracy. The breaking of this intrigue will press the campaign ahead - that is all developer Raven is willing to unveil at this point. --CAMPAIGN-- According to current plans, Jedi Knight 2 will contain 25 levels which take place in eight or nine sceneries. Producer Matt Morton demonstrates the mixture of brand-new locations, known film-settings and sites of the precedessing games Dark Forces and Jedi Knight to us: On entering the hall in which Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker engaged in a lightsaber-fight near the end of Return of the Jedi, every StarWars-believer will be deeply affected. --INVENTORY-- Apart from the Force and the lightsaber, Kyle utilises about a dozen of weapons. Adding to these are a few inventory items like a shield generator and binoculars which will make life more comfortable. --AIMING-- Aiming pays. The 'Ghoul 2'-technology will provide for realistic animations and hit zones. A headshot will cause more damage than a shot into the leg. It is said to be possible to even sever single extremities - ouch. The preview uses many German idioms, so it's kind of hard to translate.. Roger
Thanks, What about the force powers, they are talking about three stages in the way force powers work...
Lord_FinnSon
Thanks, Raze! BTW, welcome to the community, if someone haven't already greeted you... Nice way of starting your "life" around here; someone will soon give you your Chocolate Jedi Medallion or Gift Basket.
Raze
I think I have to leave something out of the preview so it still counts as citing and not a reproduction.. but if you'd ask gamestar if it was fine with them and they said yes I'd be glad to help you out there mate. -Raze Edit: Ohh, chocolate! Roger
Thanks Raze, you're right. I don't want to republish the whole preview. Plus, they only cater to the german gamers, so they wouldn't have to worry about an english translation, since that would only create more traffic to their site from international visitors. But I'm going in to this way too far... back to work, and thanks for the translation, posted it on my site...
Executor32
Hehe, you gotta love this quote from the preview: patented Darth Vader stranglehold
Broode
Raven puts also on the " Buddy AI " value, which artificial brain power of the computer-controlled allied ones. Finally you are in some missions with a team companion on the way. You create yourselves also with abtruennigen Jedi knights by the dark page: Nothing goes over the nervous Surren of several combatready laser swords. OK, babelfish sucks, but as I undersand it, we will get freindly AI, and sometimes even freindly Jedi. Impressive. Most Impressive.
Lord Slart
"On entering the hall in which Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker engaged in a lightsaber-fight near the end of Return of the Jedi, every StarWars-believer will be deeply affected." So this is definately hinting at a Deat Star visit don't you think? Well Done on the translation by the way. Wish I could speak and read other languages that well. Anakin
If I remeber correctly, I saw a small screenie or the Carbon Chamber Room a while back, I cant seem to find it now, but I know its there. I think its that one, well I hope its that one
Lord Slart
That's what I was thinking as they were talking about lando and cloud city but it did say the end of ROTJ but i think that was probably an error and it should have been ESB.
StormHammer
Welcome to the forums, Raze. Check my sig for your gift. Some really interesting snippets of information there. =) Like being met by hordes of droids...sounds like that is going to get intense. I also like the bit about the TIE vs X-Wing battle going on overhead. 25 levels sounds very good to me. It may prove to be as long as JK after all. I think Lord Slart may be right about the reference to ROTJ being wrong. It sounds like the battle in the Carbon Chamber in ESB. But you never know... Broode
Originally posted by StormHammer Welcome to the forums, Raze. Check my sig for your gift. Hey! What about me? Or Anakin? 25 levels sounds very good to me. It may prove to be as long as JK after all. True, but dont forget the simplicity of the JK engine. They could turn out to be 25 well-designed, detailed levels that take 10-15 minutes to play through.
