Do you think there will be an add-on for GB, a sequel, or nothing at all?

Try thinking logically: What more could there be in the x-pack? I really miss a copy trigger/effect feature. Also, some more toybox units would be cool.. as would indoor terrain.. but this would make the x-pack more like an 'editor's expansion pack'. So you would have to add missions. But aren't most of the movie features already in the movie?

A New Jedi Order campaign would simply rock. But are there enough NJO readers to appreciate this and buy the game? If there aren't you will have some players going 'I don't use the editor and I don't know what NJO is'.

An Ep. 2 campaign? The movie's not out yet.

The Vong? These would only be in there if the NJO campaign became a reality, otherwise there'd be a lot of players thinking LEC is just making up a race to earn money (people who would have preffered Tatooine or something else un-civilisationable for an x-pack).

But what would be added as toybox units? More fighters would rock, like the E-Wing, the B-Wing, the Slave 1 (definetly :)) would be cool. But then again, how many knows what an E-wing is? And besides from the new fighters, what could be added? Pod racers would be nice. Then all those 10 to 12-year old newbies buying GB would be pleased.

So do you think a GB add-on will be like this, if there will be one? Some 'advanced' stuff for the post-Endor interested, and then some kid's stuff to attract the 11-year olds?

Your poll lacks a "none of the above" category. What if we think there will be an X-pack, but don't expect (or want) it to be based on the New Jedi Order?

There's tons of stuff directly from the movies (races, units, etc) that they have yet to incorporate. Why move off into the never-never land of the books, when movie things remain undone? The books might be good, but they're not the movies, and things in the movies should receive primary attention.

As far as ruling out an Episode 2 expansion pack because the movie isn't "done" yet, don't! They have had the script done for over a year, as well as numerous concept art and models made for the movie. At this point they are completed with all primary filming and simply adding CGI and cleaning it up. Obviously, an episode 2 based game can be completed before the movie is released, remember The Phantom Menace, and Pod Racer. They were released within a week of the movie's release. Why? because LucasArts is privvy to information about the upcoming films so that LucasArts can turn a big profit right along with LucasFilm.

I'm willing to bet, if an x-pac is done it's going to contain Episode two characters and units, if not Episode 2 races (There will be two new races shown in Episode 2, and a third we already know will be shown in much more detail than ever before!) Maybe even a coruscant tileset, that would rock!

Of course a brand new film would be a huge push as advertisement for the x-pac and would renew again, the "casual Star Wars fan" interests in Star Wars titles. If they released an Ep. 2 x-pac, than many would buy the full version just to purchase and play the Episode 2 X-pac. See where I'm going with this? ;) LucasArts could turn this "average selling" title and make it climb the charts just by releasing an Episode 2 X-pac in conjuction with the movie. That would place the x-pac coming out in May/June, and since Garry Gaber mentioned an exciting announcement is imminent very soon, this could be it... :D

An Episode 2 X-pac just makes more sense:

First, All civs that are in GB as of now are based off civs seen in the Star Wars films Including Episode 1. If they released a game containg both Classic Trilogy civs/units in addition to civs/units from 1 prequel trilogy film, why would they ignore the second prequel movie, especially considering the movies release would be just about the same time an X-pac would be expected for GB, to place units from novels and/or comics.

Secondly, as you have probably noticed Galactic Battles has not been a huge seller for LucasArts. Partly due to lack of Star Wars Media to entice those who aren't "Huge" star Wars fans (Of course this problem will be remedied as of May 16th) and due to alot of flak from AoK players referring to GB as a "MOD". But Once the film hits theaters LucasArts can use that momentum, with practically half the effort it took to make GB (let's be honest an X-pac would require less work seeings how the groundworks all layed out) to turn GB from a economic flop to real money maker, which would help LucasArts recoupe some of their "projected" profit they had initially planned on having that they lost.

So all in all, it would just make both timing, and economical sense to make an x-pac based on Episode 2.

It's just a logical progression of thought ;)

Dang I'm Good!

Did I call it or what? 2 new Episode 2 civs, 200 new units, 14 new missions all based on Episode 2! And the release date, in May, right around the movie release (May 16th)! I called it to a "T". Perhaps I should open a psychic hotline? :D

It wasn't THAT hard to guess that the x-pak would be episode 2 inspired. All the other civs are movie based, not Expanded universe based, and the new movie coming soon kinda precluded that we'd see an ep2 x-pak if anything.

Now the fun guessing starts: What are the new civs?

My guesses: Geonasians (sp?) and Clone Troopers.

Some of the new enhancements sound good too.

My guess as to the tew new civs:

1. Geonoasians

2. Old Republic or 2. Kaminoans or 2. Tusken Raiders (A bit of a stretch, but if nothing else they would at least add more tantooine structures to the map editor!)

Units for Geonoasians though would be tough, Technically they would have battledroids as well, beings they were the ones who build and designed them. But the TF already has those. I guess they would have the Super battle droids though. There is supposed to be some dog like flying creature that attacks Obiwan while he is spying as well. Their commander would be either Count Dooku or Poggle the Lesser, depends how LucasArts wants to Use Dooku. Their Bounty Hunter would be Zam Wessel look alike.

The Old Republic would have clonetroopers, Jedi Starfighters and Clone Drop ships (They would Rock!), Senate guards (of course maybe add imperial guards to the empire than!)

And if the Old Republic was a Civ, wouldn't they sort of have to add a coruscant tileset? That would be sweet! And of course a geonoasis tileset (which would be similar to a cross between Kessel and Tantooine)

Added beast would include the Reek, Nexu, and the Acklay (How about running into them on the map?! )

Map editor units: Jango Fett, young Boba Fett, Zam Wessel, Mace Windu, PloKoon, Ki Adi Mundi, Senator Amidala, Bearded Obiwan, Teenage Anakin Skywalker, Typho (amidala's new bodyguard), Count Dooku, Female Tusken Raiders, Tusken Raider Children, Maybe some Kamino buildings/units/beasts for water maps, Cloning facility, Anakins Hot rod speeder, Zam's speeder, Count Dooku's Solar Sailor ship, Amidala's Noobian Senatorial StarShip (similar to the royal starhip from Ep 1, but with more engines[seen in trailor]), Darth Tyrannus (again depends how they handle Dooku/Tyrannus), landed Driod control spheres (like droid control ships from episode 1 without the arm extensions), Senator Jar Jar, Coruscant buildings, more Tantooine buildings, Tuken Radier huts/campsites...

Oh, the possibilities!!!!! :D

This is going to be awsome! A reason to start practicing again! Can't wait to have hundreads of Clone Troopers marching out to battle with starfighters over head! Maybe even an increased pop. limit?

And think of all the scenerio editor goodies! I agree with Havoc the possiblities are endless.

P.S. Good perdiction! Do you have any hidden connections?
