X-Pack Civs & Concept Art

I thoroughly enjoy Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds.

I'm a star wars fan, and usually don't buy non star wars games for my computer, especially strategy ones. I played the aoe and aok demos, they were O.K., but i wasn't going to dish out any cash for them, cause that's not what i really wanted. Until gb came out, I got into Rebellion and Force Commander, both which I thought were the best (sorta like rebellion more than force commander tho....we got death star!!!!! hehehe), but those eventually got boring, cause not enough units in force commander, and i got bored of micromanagement in rebellion... When gb came along, I was so excited, finally a Star Wars game, where i could control hordes of BATTLE DROIDS and Stormtroopers!!! And the Scenario Editor sounded fun too. I love the units and everything, all the artwork is fantastic. I especially liked that it had Jedi and Sith knights in it, and also most of the sw units. only ones i was expecting that i did not get were TIE Crawler, Amphibion, and Waveskimmer for the empire, but other than those, I was completely satisfied with the game. Still am. I also like the spaceport thing, so I can make allies and trade with them, that's really cool. All the units were done really well, imo. The only gripes i have are with the turrets. I wish they would've kept them more to the movies, or at least the other lec games, such as battle for naboo and rogue squadron (turbolasers, missile turrets, trade federation turbolasers and missile turrets)... But other than those minor things, which perhaps, will be fixed with the expansion pack (which will give me 300 more units to control as well as TWO more civs to play as/against).

So far, I haven't been disapponted by ANY star wars game.

And here's a few other good quality lec games:

X-Wing Alliance

Jedi Knight

Rogue Squadron

Battle For Naboo

Yeah, it would be nice if they kept up a continuity between games. :) As for the flaming here, I'd have to agree with some of it...but Lucasarts has learned their lesson, and is actually trying with alot of these games...so I'm expecting some quality new stuff here :D

Maybe that's the message board gods tellin you something grand moffthoth? Who on earth has time to write a 6,000 word response and do you honestly think im gonna waste time reading it? I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE SAY THESE GRAPHICS ARE DATED WHEN THEY TURN RIGHT AROUND AND SAY "RED ALERT RULZ!"; "STARCRAFT RULZ"; " CALL TO POWER RULZ!"; "KOHAN RULZ!" AND EACH AND EVERY LAST ONE OF THESE GAMES ARE 2D AS WELL??? HELLO!!!!!! Good grief people; there have been a bazillion screenshots of this game months and months before it came out so why is everyone still *****in about the graphics???? If you didnt like the 2d graphics then you shoulda made up your mind the first time you saw a screenshot and left it at that? Why are we whinning well after the fact? The moment you saw the first screenshot you shouldn't have even made it to this point!! Grief!!! What end will people go to for attention?

How bout a Heavy Weapon that laid land mines. It could be a zamboni looking vehicle that was slow and heavily armored. It would have no attack capabilities but would drop land mines that were invisible to the enemy just like the spider mines in starcraft. You would que up the mines by clicking on the vehicle the same way you que'd up scarabs in the protoss reaver in Starcraft. These mines would not harm you or your allies but would explode whenever an enemy was nearby. The mines would be good against troops; but weak against heavy weapons and mechs. How bout it???:D

Phantom Menace, with the combination of both your responses to my post, you make it startingly clear that your ability to articulate your own ignorance and stupidity far exceeds anything I might possibly say to you. Thank you & Keep up the good work.

-As for everyone else who actually READ the content of my post;

I think several points were lost amidst my emotional rant. I'll sum them up rather bluntly this time 'round as I've already typed this response in big explanation mode, but it erased.

-I LOVE THE GAME

-I LOVE THE GRAPHICS

-I LOVE THE ENGINE

-I LOVE THE SIMILARITIES TO AOK

-I LOVE THE AIR-CRAFT

-I LOVE THE MONK to JEDI IMPROVEMENT (allowing attack)

-I WAS EXCITED WHEN IT WAS COMING OUT,

I WAS EXCITED WHEN IT CAME OUT,

I AM EXCITED ABOUT IT NOW,

I AM EXCITED ABOUT THE X-PACK COMING OUT,

I WILL BE EXCITED WHEN THE X-PACK COMES OUT

MY ADDICTION WILL BUY IT

-ALL STAR WARS GAMES DO NOT SUCK

-ALL STAR WARS GAMES SUCK WHEN COMPAIRED TO THE DEPTH,

& STANDARDS CONTAINED WITHIN THE BOOKS,MOVIES,&COMIX

-ROGUE SQUADRON IS THE BEST THEY CAME TO FREEDOM (for me)

-REBELLION WAS ALSO, FOR ITS CUSTOMED OPTIONS

-MAP EDITORS & TRIGGERS AREN'T NEAT THEY'RE GOD

They allow us to create our own games within their game,

w/o restriction & on an infinite scale. They allow us to BE Gods.

It is most definately this diffinitive aspect which separates

the engine from all others.

-CHARACTER & CIV SELECTION ARE THE ONLY LIMITATIONS

-CHARACTER & CIV SELECTION IS MY GRIPE

(INCLUDES UNITS,ETC)

-COMPAIRED TO 175 planets & AOK's 1 -

WE SHOULD HAVE MORE CIVs (REPEAT TWICE)

-I REALLY WANT THRAWN & JABBA & EXAR KUN

-ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS & PREFERENCES

WHICH ARE FREE TO EXPRESS- Take them as such, you don't have to read them obviously

-As far as the Engine Issue, I was stating that if they saved all that time by (intelligently) using the AOK engine; there should be absolutely NO excuse for not providing a HUGE character library.

The character library is what we all needed them to create, (by this I also mean the units, etc.) the game was already made, they just had to make it into Star Wars. Which is all I, & from what I understand most, wanted. I didn't expect to have everyone there is, but definately more then they gave us. The part that urks me so much is, how find time to add & create units & char.'s we don't know or miss but deprive us of those units & char.'s which make us want to control them? I'd SO MUCH rather have Exar Kun, or Ulic, or Kyp Durron, or Carnor Jax, or C'boath, or a Ssi-Ruuk and so on than a game designer pictured jedi with a weak character name. Why do this, & if you're going to do this why not allow us to add those character's which WE want to use.

I don't mind any new units or half-assed characters as long as I can have the REAL ones first. Grand Admiral Thrawn is SO MUCH more exciting than the two generic officers or governors they provide.

:freakout: Uh oh, I breached 3,000 characters BEWARE of a distressed menace. :lsduel:
