They know that they cant predict exactly when it will be released, because NO official date has been given yet, so rather than saying March, and having people complaining they didnt get their copy on time if it is pushed back to early April, they've decided to play it safe® and say early April. When there isn't an exact release date, companies put the date a few weeks or so back for pre-orders so if the game doesn't come out when it's expected or if they put, the people who ordered it can't say "Well you said I'd get it by...." I doubt that. The fanbase isn't large enough. I've been to opening days for Metal Gear Solid 2, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Black and White, and Thief 2 and I've never seen a line.
