The Count Posted March 16, 2002 Author Posted March 16, 2002 I'll just use my Win 95 PC, the only reason I still have that is because of Dark Forces, I love that game
Yodimus Prime Posted March 16, 2002 Posted March 16, 2002 It looks like 9 of 10 pac men prefer eating Mario over Tekken

Tasuki Posted March 16, 2002 Posted March 16, 2002 I can't get into games on xp now or play dark forces. Its pissing me off and I spent all day trying to get jk to work on the zone.

XP has all kinds of compatilibity problems, not only with games, but with many applications, including some AOL versions. Microsoft will release XP SE in 2003 Upgrade then.
NothingMan Posted March 16, 2002 Posted March 16, 2002 The only problems I have had with Windows XP are: 1. In Final Fantasy VII, I can't go in the chocobo races. 2. GTA2 doesn't work...
Vagabond Posted March 16, 2002 Posted March 16, 2002 Since this discussion has migrated to the virtues of XP, I'm moving it to the swamp...

GTA2 doesn't work... If you have the PCWorld magazine, there was a whole big article on it, including some 15 applications that doesn't work with XP But the XP interface looks very user-friendly
KordKelly Posted March 17, 2002 Posted March 17, 2002 I've been using XP Pro since it's release, and 'Whistler' since RC1... Only troubles I've had are Sam 'N' Max hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle. Rogue Squadron gave me a bit of hassle, 'till I put it in 98 compatability mode.(??? funny how it only seems like LA games ???) I haven't tried DF yet, looks like I'll have ta give her a go;) XP Home is not the best OS out there, but XP Pro Rocks. It also makes ALOT of difference if you Clean install rather than Upgrade.
Lord_FinnSon Posted March 17, 2002 Posted March 17, 2002 Only troubles I've had are Sam 'N' Max hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle. You better try ScummVM or Quick and Easy(you also must have VDMsound installed).
lumpyKmo Posted March 17, 2002 Posted March 17, 2002 i play JK on XP all the time with guys in my dorm, if it doesnt run right though XP has an option to run the game in a DOS like environment (and it works). though its not really nessecary, JK does work in XP.

JediGunny Posted March 17, 2002 Posted March 17, 2002 XP has much more compatiblity than 2000, XP is made for home use, 2000 is made for work. I have run 2000 since the day it came out and I have run XP since it hit release candidate 1 and I can say XP rocks! If you are not running it do not voice your opinion. I have only had one game not work (Arx Fatalis or something Demo) but everything else works: Rune Half-Life Ghost Recon Jedi Knight Quake Medal of Honor Blake Stone Doom Duke 3D UT Dark Age of Camelot Diablo 2 Vampire RTCW and that is retail versions, I have tried various demos and have had no problems. Win2000, I haven't been able to get all games to work, but I use it for work not play. Now I use WinXP for everyting and I will use it to play JEDI KNIGHT 2 woo hoo!!!!!
Kurgan Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 No need to "upgrade" to XP... I'm happy with my 2kpro/98se dual boot. I could install Redhat 7.2 on here too if I wanted. ; )

The Ark Fatalis Demo Worked fine for me Under Windows XP Pro. All I had to do was update my video card drivers and Everything was flying after that. I haven't had any problems with games running Windows XP Pro at all.
