bsbuckeye21
Ok, I've been living in the past with an ATI Rage 128 Pro and it's time for me to upgrade. This'll satisfy me 'till college (one more year). I'm eyeing a GeForce 3 Ti200, but is there a comparable Radeon card that's worth considering or cheaper? Thanks, gurus. BrainStorm
A comparable Radeon would be about 30-40 bucks more expensive. With the overclockability and not to mention the fact that the Ti200 kicks ice right out of the box, I would go with the Ti200. Did I mention that I have the Ti200 myself? acdcfanbill
well, the radeon 8500 is probably about 20 to 30 dollars more, but is equal to the gf3 ti 500 in performance...
Jedi Monkey
Radeon Power! Nvidia reminds me of Microsoft and Intel.......thats bad!
Roger
Use the GeForce!
OnlyOneCanoli
Whatever card you get, you're going to be pleased. If it's the price that concerns you the most, you can't go wrong with the Ti200. A lot of people would argue that the Radeon8500 is the best bang for your buck. They may be right, but being the nVidia fan that I am, I'd go with the Ti200 or the regular GF3 (which is in my rig right now, and it runs beautifully for me). BrainStorm
Especially if it only needs to be around for a year. Save the money and spend it on something else. No sense in wasting it on un-needed video card power.
bsbuckeye21
What do you mean, BrainStorm? Just don't get anything higher than a Ti200? (Which I would agree.) Mainly, I just want something that'll take advantage of the DX8 features.
BrainStorm
The Ti200 has plenty of power for all games at the moment. Actually it has more power than is currently needed. You can overclock a Ti200 up to the base specs of the Ti500 but it would still be overkill. Its nice to know that I still have that "upgrade" available if needed. If u can wait till monday, I will be able to tell u fer sure how well the Ti200 handles JK II!
bsbuckeye21
Yeah, it'll probably be at least Mon with me. I should be able to tell you how JK2 runs on a ATI Rage 128 Pro!
BrainStorm
I will get it on Friday, but when I am forced to go to work on Monday will prolly be the first time that I will be at a PC and I won't be playing.
