I have been thinking about getting it well in a way its a very GOOD game i liked it a lot some good points of it is u dont have to control the economy. u just place a farm and from then on they take care of it the only units u control are the military units overall its a pretty good game but sometimes can get boring but that happens in every game
Guest Admiral Odin Posted November 18, 2001 Posted November 18, 2001 Do not fear I am here. I have been busy lately. GB arrived 1 day after I bought stronghold. I have been trying to blance those to great games along with a job, and school. Can you give me more specifics on the mission, I been doing other things with the game, mainly testing out how best to defend a castle. Do you have any pitch you can use. I highly recommend you place it before your gate. Watch the enemy burn alive. Need more info, on what defense and enemy force in the mission before i can help. Or you can wait until I get there.
Zygomaticus Posted November 18, 2001 Author Posted November 18, 2001 ok this one is mission 7 in the combat campaign is pitch the thin black line u get from oil will our men burn from that??
cossack1812 Posted November 18, 2001 Posted November 18, 2001 The pitch is the black line stuff that burns the enemy, very useful for protecting right near your walls. If the enemy has laddermen then get your archers(?) to shoot them first, that way the enemy has to spend longer hacking through your walls. Not that Ive played the full game, Ive only played the demo.
Zygomaticus Posted November 18, 2001 Author Posted November 18, 2001 are spearmen useful at all i find it harrassing to make them cuz i dont like to ........ i just like to make archers as many as i can and place em along the walls admiral odin i need help with mission 7 in the combat campaign
chrisw_30 Posted November 18, 2001 Posted November 18, 2001 i will hire it once it comes out at my local video store
Zygomaticus Posted November 18, 2001 Author Posted November 18, 2001 games for hire strong hold is a computer game do video stores have comp games for rent
Guest Admiral Odin Posted November 18, 2001 Posted November 18, 2001 Spearmen are useful. They dig moats and push ladders off your walls. Archers are the best in my opion. Swordsmen will cut anyone when they reach them. Pitch kills all. Build a couple Fletcher (bow making building), get a couple farms, inside your walls. This keeps you from lossing food during a siege. Usually keep one peasant without a job, so you can get your army up and running.
Guest Admiral Odin Posted November 19, 2001 Posted November 19, 2001 I played the mission, and now can tell you how exactly I beat it. 1. First attack sent my spearmen 1st to knock off the ladders with archers close behind to kill the enemy spearmen. 2.After that assult I made the walls 3 think. 3.I got a few more archers and many spearmen. The spearmen are used as a strike force. once the main part of the enemy force is gone, with archers send out your spearmen and deal with the siege weapons. and that is bascially it.
Zygomaticus Posted November 20, 2001 Author Posted November 20, 2001 but i have trouble with the economy in that level i cant get enough food quick enough and the damned fletchers had to leave first how many fletchers should i keep and whats your food producing combination
Guest Admiral Odin Posted November 20, 2001 Posted November 20, 2001 Usually this works for me. I build a couple farms close to my Granery. Dairy usually, and a few wheat, with 1 windmill and a couple bakeries I usually use 2 fletchers.
Zygomaticus Posted November 20, 2001 Author Posted November 20, 2001 please specify what couple means 2 or 3 or more
Guest Admiral Odin Posted November 21, 2001 Posted November 21, 2001 Usually around 4. As you pop increases increase your food production.
Zygomaticus Posted November 21, 2001 Author Posted November 21, 2001 i usually put around 4 fletchers and 5-6 farms and yet im unable to win that level how do u place your archers on the walls all in one place or all spread out??
Guest Admiral Odin Posted November 21, 2001 Posted November 21, 2001 This is my Usually placement. Although It does change. On the Gate house I put about 6 archers. Then I speard them out on the wall. Not very far apart. like every 3 squares. 1-2Spearmen per side of a gate house. Then as I get more archers I start grouping them close together. Now for special Circumstances. I believe I did this on that mission. I took the majority of Archers and placed them along the longer part of the wall. Another good size on the gate house, and about 5 on the smaller wall. Then I had about 20 or more spearmen behing the gatehouse. Those I sent out as soon as the enemy archers were gone to kill the catipult. Also make your wall 3 thick. This will slow the enemy apporach and allow you to kill them faster. Have you used your Lord at all?
Zygomaticus Posted November 21, 2001 Author Posted November 21, 2001 we cant use him right i didnt know we could use him, can we??
Guest Admiral Odin Posted November 25, 2001 Posted November 25, 2001 Somewhat. You can tell him to attack units. He will leave the keep and do it, but only do it if you have no other option.
