Alunar
Yes, yes, I'm sorry for posting so many technical threads and such, but I'm no good with hardware. Must a 3D card be compatible with your AGP? B? Z? (ha ha, no really..) slot? I'm wondering because I'm going to feel really stupid holding a new 3D card only to realize it's not going to *fit*. Maybe I should just buy parts and ask a friend to build it for me? Ah. Thank you for your patience. And thanks for all the nifty stuff ^_^ I'll keep it safe. TheMadDoofer
Yeah you need an AGP slot that is compatible with your graphics card or it will not work. But, yes, your frienf could probably build you one.
StormHammer
As this is more of a general thread I'm moving it to the Swamp. Welcome to the forums, Alunar and TheMadDoofer. Here...*hands each a chocolate Jedi Medallion* As for the slots you need for graphics cards...if you have a fairly modern PC, then chances are it has an AGP slot for the graphics card. If it's an old machine, you may just have PCI slots. Do you have a manual with your PC, and does it give any details about the motherboard? There are also now different types of AGP slots... 1x, 2x, 4x and soon to be 8x. While most of these are backwards compatible, I have heard that some cards might not run. You really need to get some details about your motherboard, and then check for compatibility with the graphics card manufacturer. If you are really not sure about the technical side of things, then I can only reiterate what you have suggested yourself...ask a friend who knows.
