Probing question

Yeah! I have reached Probe droid status so how about some probing? How about this... what is your biggest fear? My biggest fear is that I will someday post something that is unfunny and purely spam.

Wait a minute! ...OH NO!!! My greatest fears have come true... *whimper*

My two biggest fears:

Heights...but more so,

Electricity.

I hate playing with wires or plugs...whenever I have to pull a plug out I have to check for no nearby water or anything like that. Then it's a clean and jerk...usually holding my breath too. I'm so scared of static electricity...basically anything that I cant see that goes bump in the night, per se. If I turn around and someone is right behind me, man...I'd piss my pants. Static Electricty just comes out of nowhere, freaks the crap out of me.

I have a trully unnatural fear of ladders. Im not always afraid of heights but I HATE going up on ladders... ever since I was a kid.

I don't like horses either. Or crabs (the kind in the sea).

Maybe I was once working on a ladder and a horse knocked me off it and I fell into a swarm of crabs and when the horse came back to see if I was ok he accidentally trampled me. Could happen.

Im actually not afraid of crabs... really... they creep me out a little... and if they're big I get a little panicy.

But ladders... jeez. My grandfather built this treehouse once when I was a little kid and it was at the top of this immense spruce tree. We had to climb up this very tall, metal, extended ladder and I just about crapped my pants when we had to come back down. I was fine while I was up in the treehouse...heights didn't bother me... being on the ladder DID.

And I do feel nervous around horses... they are huge. If they turned or stepped the wrong way and smack into you they could smash bones.

Snakes. I encounter more than I'd like on sewer line projects in NC. The only good snake is a dead one!

I also fear probe droids. Every snowy winter I expect to see one floating over the hills, forever searching...

Iv hated wasps ever since i fell over a wasps nest and got stung to b*ggery as a kid. Im totaly terrifyed when i hear a wasp near by but cant pinpoint its location.

My other fear is hights, i cant stand being high up or being near the sides of things like ships, even the window seat in a plane makes me feel uneasy (well after 23 hour flight to austrailia i kinda got over it).

Jeeze... one time when I was a kid I was playing around at my grandfathers farm on Cape Cod and he had this old hand pump that no longer pumped water. As little kids we would fill the trough below it up with water and sit in it on hot days.... anyway, I was pretending to pump the pump and as I cranked the handle up and down, wasps poured out of the water spout like a stream of angry, black, buzzing water. I got stung only about five times luckily. Wasps spray you with scent that the rest of the hive picks up on so they know you are an enemy.... got to watch out for that.

Also, at this same house... there were these wasps that lived in the ground. The made little holes all over the place. BIG wasps, purple and orange and ... seriously... about two inches long. I used to be so panicked when trying to walk through that part of the dooryard.

And try to avoid opening up that monitor... BZZZZZT.

I am afraid of my own mind sometimes. I can have a pretty powerful imagination. We live in this pretty large house that dates back to at least 1810. Sometimes I am up later than everyone else and the rest of the house is shut down and dark. Well, one night I was walking through it, heading toward bed and for some reason my mind started imagining the sound of a man screaming... like what would it be like to be walking through this darkened old house and hear a man scream in the darkness right next to me? Would animal fear kick in? Would I bolt and scramble frantically for light? Would I freeze? Faint? After only a few seconds of these thoughts I began to actually expect to hear the scream. I was sure it would happen and my heart started thumping and I could feel the adrenaline begin to tingle through my arms... and I ran upstairs to my room and put all the lights on.

*phew*

I think my imagination is why the Blaire Witch scared the crap out of me for like three nights after I saw it (I live in the woods).

You know, I've always been stupidly fearless when it comes to most things, I mean bugs are creepy and weird me out, and knives and needles bother me, but none of those things make me REALLY afraid. The one thing that really scares me is my Dad...which is sad at my age, but also true.

What was it Socrates said? Something like this (I am paraphrasing of course):

I do not fear death. Why should I? If indeed there is some sort of afterlife then I will spend eternity being able to speak and debate with the gods, heros and the great minds that have come before me. If there is no afterlife, then it will be as one of those nights in which I sleep and do not dream. I will simply not wake up.

Its a good way to look at it.
