A DF to JK2 port is a mistake. Grave mistake.

 

For this to work, DF needs to be re-imagined with the aid of the current technology, and our knowledge of the future plot.

 

Not only that. A typical FPS like DF will get boring to play, no matter how much nalstalgia one has for it.

Dude the forums I have on the cards are already in motion to be set up. It's pointless pulling out now and what we get will be a million times better. No banners ads, a proper ubb forum. Full customizable, fast and no crap url :p

I'll try and get working on the website this weekend, but I haven't spoken to the relevant person regarding this yet. Forums will be up in a couple of days, and the site maybe in 4, 5 days I'll have the space and an initial design up in a week or so...

If you're re-imagining something, you'll need a flexible voice cast not bound by the original script.

 

In otherwords, using the original voices would be pretty pointless if you're trying for that "different, but the same" DF that everyone wants.

Will you make some old Dark Forces models like the Dark Trooper gun, Dark Troopers (1, 2, and 3) and the (notorious for its SUDDEN absence) Navy Trooper?

I'm not sure the team wants to re-imagine anything. Seems we are pretty interested in recreating DF as original as possible . . . there will always be people who think that is stupid, or a bad idea, or that no one will like it. Luckily, those people are *not* obliged to help or play what ever it is we end up making . . .

I piped in on this already. I'd prefer the original voice files . . . but we have to be ready to dump them and redo them all if LEC comes back with a "NO" . . .

Well, things got pretty concluded anyway with your reply *shoots the MIDI subject dead*

 

Question:

Should the normal doors open DarkForces style (step close to them, use-button to open them) or like they react in JO (open like before you reach them)? The JO style is more comfortable and my current setting.

Personally, I'd like to keep things as they were with things like this, so I'd say good old buttons. But then again, we should have some project leader to have the final word on stuff like this... *hint hint*
