Assault3000
Oh boy, time for another VS. Poll! This time its Dark Forces versus Final Fantasy. I vote fo Dark Forces myself, the only FF I liked was 7. Post your reasons if you want. Remember this is about the series of both in general. Darth Seph
FF7 is my favourite game of all time hence Seph from Sephiroth (the main Evil bad guy from the game) However what is the comparison mate? Storyline? Characters?
TheGreatPhilbo
Final Fantasy VII is the only Final Fantasy game I actually ever bothered to finish, and you don't see the same characters twice. You have to fit all character development into one game. This causes most of these games to start "in medias res", and we have to come up with our own guesses as to how the hell they got there, and what the heck is going on. Also, they're repetitive, with the constant "evil corporation (with or without extra bad guy) out to do stuff that could destroy the world" plot. Dark Forces would be nothing without Kyle Katarn, but his constant exploits and continued Star Wars genre makes up for great stories, as well as great character development. This is why, if another Dark Forces comes out, I'd still prefer Kyle Katarn over anyone else. And the Dark Forces line is made up of just-plain-good games. They're made just right. And you just have to love them. That's my opinion.

Guardian Omega
If FF fanboys find their way to this topic, prepare your lightsabers and Mer-Sonns, it's gonna be a big *** war!

Schizophrenic
Um.... why are Dark Forces and Final Fantasy even being compared to each other? They are two completely different types of games. ACGe0rge
I agree tha the games are too different to really compare. Ones a FPS and the other more of a RPG. YOu might as wll compare DArk Forces and Baldurs Gate. HAving said that, I loved both games and dont know if I could choose a favorite
Kanubis
Same here. Love them both. If you go to the valley of the jedi forum, there are dozens of strings saying that the ongoing DF plot is stale and needs a new main character. Quote 1: Final Fantasy VII is the only Final Fantasy game I actually ever bothered to finish, and you don't see the same characters twice So how the hell do you know that: (Quote 2) Also, they're repetitive, with the constant "evil corporation (with or without extra bad guy) out to do stuff that could destroy the world" plot. Not true. 7 was the only one to have an actual evil organisation. The others just had bad guys, like any plot. I am a big Star Wars fan, but some SW games suck (not any of the DF ones, admittedly). On the other hand, I've played FF V,VI,VII,VIII & IX and loved them all. Having said all that, if Lucasarts want to reclaim their position as owning my favourite game series, they need to do another X-Wing / Tie Fighter game. D.L.
You can't compare them. They are too different. DF wins on action. FF wins on storyline. FF wins on longetivity. DF wins on graphics (compared to FF1-5, 6-10 beat DF) If I had a choice, I'd pick FF as I'm in the middle of FF6 at the moment. And whoever said all the FF games are the same hasn't a clue what he/she is talking about. Only one of the FF games had a evil corporation. FF7 was the evil corporation that wasent even the main bad guys , they were only thrown in as a sub enemy , to begin the story of and learn all about Sephiroth and his plans. Sephiroth is the bad guy from FF7 FF8 was about a sorceress that wanted to control time and space FF9 was about Kuja trying to engage war between antions so once the war was over he would pick on the weak survivor and go for world domination thats all the ones i played and i find none of then alike in storyline.
