MetaFox
For those who don't know me, I continued the LSA after Rottingbeef left (with Rottingbeef's permission), and I ran a site on GFN called Cafe Calavera. My other site, Mega Monkey, died, and I decided to leave the LucasArts community for a bit. I'm willing to start up The Lost Soul's Alliance on Grim Fandango Network again if you're willing to have it return.
Metallus
Metafox, I am in charge of the GFN now, but I am one of the newest additions to the staff. I wasn't around during the days of MegaMonkey, but I have read through all the GFN archives back to 1998 (which will be up on the GFN soon thanks to some Internet Archive spelunking I did some months ago), and know that you did a lot for the community. Sadly, both the LSA and GFN are in bad shape right now, along with the rest of the network. The mojo downtime (Sept-Dec. 2001) really affected the LucasArts adventure community; right now a lot of people are jaded and frustrated with LucasArts and the major adventure fansits. Bone_Man, who was heading the new LSA, left the GFN and the rest of us weren't really prepared to cope with his absence. Since then, there has been no genuine volunteers to take it over--a few 'maybe's from some people, but definitely not enough to support the site. No one is there to update the links right now. If you're feeling forgotten, it's most likely because all the other people who worked on the GFN back when you did are long gone. I'm sorry for your feeling this way but honestly, I don't know what to do about it. We're pretty much in the same boat--I'm trying to rally the scattered GF fans who have drifted away from the site and these forums. We're down to a fraction of the support that we had before the downtime. Basically, you've caught us at a rough spot, and the future is uncertain. At this time I have to focus on getting the site back in order. If you wanted to come back to the GFN or the LSA, that'd be a different story. It's just a different place than it was when you worked there. I hope there are no hard feelings, and I don't think you sound 'whiny' at all. Your feelings echo those of many in the community and staffers of adventure sites. While I was typing, I found this. I hope it brings back some memories. MetaFox
Yeah, the mixnmojo downtime hit a lot of sites hard, and the death of adventuregamer.com didn't help GFN too much either, I bet. I always enjoy posting about things I love, and I have always loved LucasArts adventure games, so I would like to help out at GFN. As for the LSA, there were times when there were no fan submissions for months, so I just stuck in there and made a little something of my own to contribute to the site. "If there is no news, make some!" is my motto. I hate to see the LSA in the state it is in, and as for GFN, it's seen worse days (the move from gameplex.net to adventuregamer.com was pretty tough), but I'd like to help out in any way I can. Metallus
MetaFox, I would be thrilled if you were to return to the GF Network. Would you also want to take over the Lost Souls Alliance (again)?
MetaFox
Sure, I'll take over the LSA. It was fun to manage before, and hopefully we can bring some people into GFN with it as it did before. And If there is one person who has enough free time to handle the position, it's me.
Metallus
That's great to hear! Do you have ICQ or AIM? If so, get in touch with me at 107880534 or Metallus83, respectively. Or if you ever go to #monkey-island anymore .

Adventure Gamer (now Adventure Gamers) isn't exactly dead. It's just had the granddaddy of downtime. They're planning to be back up before E3, and unlike Mojo the AG forums have been active throughout the downtime. That makes some difference. Metallus
I think Metafox might mean that when AG went down, the hosted networks, such as LucasFans and WorldofMI had to pack up and get out. Luckily, the GFN had left AG a few months before all this had happened, so it didn't directly impact what was going on at the GFN at that time. However, I'm sure that we're missing out on a lot of hits since many search engines still have the network down as http://grim.adventuregamer.com.
