Isn't it true that you can create servers that host sabers only, and nf/ff? Then why do people who use sabers only play on servers where there are guns, and bitch about those who use guns? Some people mention that to use a gun is cheap, and go back to quake 3. What if I like this game? What if I prefer the secondary fire to the single firing in quake. What if I wanna be a storm trooper? This game came out of the box as a fun game, there is NO NEED to patch it in a way that would alter game play. As far as those who don't like people who use guns, GO TO A SABER ONLY SERVER!!!

Why would raven be so retarded to even include guns in the game if they are going to release a patch that makes them utterly useless?

 

 

Why did raven even Make different gametypes? There was low ammo on levels to begin with ....and now The guns are Nurfed into uselessness with this new patch

 

Raven you could have saved yourself alot of trouble and Just included saber only ...IT would have saved you alot of time and the Real gamers alot of time wasted with ur game. This patch all out sucks my ass. U have made guns completely useless Thank you for listening to newbies with sabers that are too F******ing dumb to realize they can join servers /create servers with "SABER ONLY " option or Join CTF Games WITH SABER ONLY.... why else would u have multiple settings for games? WTF if your gonna try and make things equal gunners are the ones being jipped.... I DONT SEE ANY FREEKIN OPTIONS FOR GUN ONLY SERVERS ...

 

Now you have totally lamed the guns to the point of uselessness....Guess what If none of the competetive gaming clans Like your new patch I guess it will be useless Because we will just leave v.02 on our servers... thats right Your patch will be useless because for one there arn't many dedicated JK 2 servers ... and the ones that are... are mostly Controlled by clans not newbie saberists who cant configure or join games with the right settings....then complain on this forum and ruin it for gunners. So what happens when everyone with a server says cram it up ur hole ....and just keeps using .02 until u can put more than 2 hrs of thought into ur next patch

Yes, that is a GREAT point. If there is a setting for "SABER's ONLY", why isn't there a setting for guns only? That would save a lot of this debate. The gunners can play at guns only, and the sabers can play at sabers only. And the gunners could still rule the combo servers. There is no need to cater to one side or the other that way.

There is a difference between being a "gun-whore" and using guns.

The goal of this game, I believe, is to have fun. Now, if Your fun means that everyone else on the server is not having a good time, then...well, you should change the way you play of accept that you're an ass.

 

Sure, we're all entitled to play the game the way we want, but f.ex people who bunnyhop-DFA their way around the map all day ruin the experience of others. (NO! DO NOT TELL ME THAT DFA CAN EASILY BE COUNTERED OR I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND BITE YOUR FACE OFF...in other words: countering it or avoiding it is not the point here) If you intentionally ruin the experience of others you are an ass. Plain and simple.

 

I'm not saying YOU are an ass, yet. But if you're the Super-l337 dude who gets his every god damn frag with mindless flechette-ATL-firing then yes, you are an ass.

 

I like guns. Even the big ones. But I'm not going to kill the same guy 7 times straight with the flechette-alt-fire if he is holding the saber, looking for a "fair" fight. Getting kills is not the only important thing in this game(!!!!). I hope most of you realize that some day.

My point was simple if you don't know how to stay away from ppl using guns by joining a SABER only server then U are too stupid to be posting........ u may say u like guns then u cry about them... oh and it's not my fault you don't have the guns skills to stay alive in a guns server . the rest of us shouldn't be punished because you lack the skills to use a gun properly and everything else that goes along with it

I'm not sure if you're just trolling, but if that is the case, then; great job! You totally had me going.

 

But if you're serious, I will try to clarify my point (if that is possible):

 

1) I like to use guns.

2) I have no problem, with others using guns.

3) I have no problem with getting killed. (=I'm not a sore loser)

4) I play on saber only servers AND servers allowing guns, depending on my mood.

( 5) My "skillz" have nothing to do with this.)

 

Your sole argument here is that I whine because I get killed by the l337 dudes with their mean, overpowered guns. Please repeat points 1-3....good. Now do it again.

 

So what is the problem? Why are you flaming me? Where do you get all that stuff from?? Read my posts for christ sakes, boy!

 

Just to make my point crystal clear to you: doing <insert ANY action WHATSOEVER> a gazillion times, overandoverandoverandover again 24/7 all day long without any variation = less happy-happy-joy-joy for fellow gamers. I don't care whether it is the DFA, going "Hey! You there!" or jumping up and down.

Is watching someone roll backwards for hours and killing him whenever he hits a wall really fun? Is it fun 2 hours straight? Is it fun to play on a duel-server and win 10-0 3 weeks straight when the other guy is only rolling backwards? Is the 10-0 score worth it? Honestly?

AssKicker, I think most people problems with guns is that they tend to go flying in and vulch away a potential kill. I'll give you a scenario: Luc Solar and I meet each other in a cul de sac, and begin dueling with the sabre. It's a real good fight, both of us doing various acrobatics and generally doing really well. Finally, we're both low on health, and some hotshot with a flechette launcher comes in, launches a few greandes, kils us both, and takes off.

 

That really chaps my ass.

 

Honestly, if I face a gunwhore with my sabre, I give myself a 50-50 chance I'll win. I can usually push away the incoming projectiles long enough to get within pull range, then rip the gun out of his hands, flip it around, and giv him a face full of whatever he was firing at me, just for my own sick satisfaction. (think Jackie Chan in Rush Hour)

 

It's the "kill stealing" and vulching which irritates me.

 

And spamming flak grenades, but that goes without saying.

shock.... the problem is easily solved man.... just go to a "saber only " or duel server and u wont have to deal with A-holes with guns stealing ur kills.... there are plenty of "Saber only " servers Both Death match and CTF.

Well, those scoring based games annoy me . Frags, frags, frags. The scoring system should be taken out of jk2 so we can have more fun. The flags in ctf are annoying, they should be taken out cause they are in the way when I'm duelling. Also, I hate those stupid mouse users. It's more fun to play with keyboard only. The game shouldn't allow to use the mouse. I just need 5 keys forward, backwards, left, right and attack. Btw, the force powers and guns are so annoying, they should be taken out as well. Thanks

I dunno dude...tha "back"-key seems kinda overpowered. People with real SkillZ can easily turn 180 degrees (left/right) instead of using the lame cheap-ass "back"-key.

Yeah, that's a solution, but its an annoying one. I hate having to switch servers, since the Q3 ghetto server browser sorta sucks. I've been spoiled by the UT server browser.

 

Besides, I do like using guns sometimes. It's fun to duel a jedi with your blaster rifle. (get behind him, fire fire fire! pull him to the ground! fire! run away!) I got called a sissy for it, but only cause the l33t player couldnt believe I owned his ass with a blaster rifle and his sabre didnt work right. "Lose the heavy stance there, boss."

 

Of course, if the jedi is good, out comes the sabre.

My attitude is a holdover from Subspace, when two player would be dueling each other, and some nut in a bomber would scream in, launch one bomb and kill both, and claim the kill. It was legal, and a lot of people did it, but it pissed everyone off. Do you want to piss people off? If so, how old are you? 16? Ah, that explains it.

 

Duals work, I do them all the time. But god forbid you put your sabre down in an FFA server, some fraghappy d00d will hack you up or blast you. Thats not cool.

For the record, I do like guns. The Ion Pistol on NS_Streets is one of my favorites. I enjoy a good blaster rifle duel. I'll bowl flak grenades at enemys, and I'll mortar repeater rifle 2ndarys from high ledges. Thermal detonators are spiffy, and If you come through a door and trip over a laser trip mine, it was probably me. I also love lining choke points with detonation packs in CTF, and waitinf for mobs of peopel to come through, then I blow the door. Its great.

 

What annoys me is people who see a sabre fight going on, spam grenades into it, kill eveyrone, and run away with a hard-on thining theyre l33t.

 

I can remember a certain incident, in which me and another sabre-wielder met on one of the sniper platforms on NS_Streets, and began dualing. Not an official dual (someone else was dueling at the time), so we just decided to go at it without force. This other fella stood off to the side with a repeater rifle and just watched. I thought to myself "Oh, cool, a gunner who respects a sabre duel. Good guy." Well, the other dualist got the best of me, and as he stood, with his back turned to the gunner, and typed his "GF", I was able to see the gunner turn launch a secondary right into his back. He was low on health, and it killed him instantly.

 

That really pissed me off. This guy didnt have the balls to really fight either of us, gun or not, so he stood off, waited for one of us to die and the other to be low on health, then killed the weak one and ran off.

 

Both me and the other fella chased the guy down and made the rest of his game miserable. (choke, off the ledge you go. absorb choke? ion blaster secondary, off you go. push, off you go)

I'm not talking about you, luc. Actually I didn't read your post. I'm talking about the tremendous horde of newbies that manged it to screw up the game by bombing the devs with newbie emails and you bet they still try to screw it up a little more. Unfortunately they are the majority in the jk comunity as always.

 

Also, I don't blame the devs for the patch. The majority wins and the majority is newbie. It's just business man. There's always some newbie that will buy jk2 and have fun with it.
