One of my largest pet peeves in AOK is the AI. It is weak. I mass, it sends little troops one at a time to be slaughetered by me. They don't get to my troops.

:confused:Why isn't it better?

Starcraft has better AI. They mass. AOK AI doesn't. mabye someone could make a overall general AI to let us use as default. So, has the AI been improved?

It could definately be better. Their main tatic (as far i i've seen) is trickling troops at you and buildin a huge economy. All you have to do is mass troops and attack and they are gone they need to put "mass attack" tactics in the AI, and also "counterattack" and "rush" tactics as well.

I agree the AI is weak they should attack more often in the higher ages. If the first age is to set up defences and a small army then the rest of the game should be civs expanding and capturing resoures. I find that civs in AOK dont expand far enough. The good thing about starcraft is the AI expanded over the whole map if you let them thus causing conflicts. It made the game fast paced. Aok is a bit slower. Even AOE (the first game) AI was more aggressive.

But in RA you don't have to set up an economy. You don't have to build villagers. Therefore, you can pump out troops as soon as you start, so rushing isn't a problem.

AOETC's (Age of Empires II The Conquerors Expansion) AI sucks if your not a beginner. I sure hope they make a MUCH better AI in GBG, that would feint and set traps ect. maybe actually use stratregy unlike the AI in AOETC. That would defiantly make the game LOTS better than AOETC

It also plays the characters that you are not directly controlling at the time. (ie. a light cavalry chases after an aproaching enemy, even though you didn't tell him too.)

The generic AI is pretty smart, and it tends to mess with storytelling sometimes. Now and then you just want one character like Darth Maul to hang out on the edge of the map and wait for a cutscene, but he'll run off and explore the map, or resign unexpectedly, or try to ally with the Gungans. Just got several generic AI scripts from Jenny to fix these problems. Now the tutorial players don't have to worry about gungans running through their lessons or instantly attacking them before they've even learned to pick berries.

Interesting???:D

Why can't someone get an open-source AI engine from SourceForge or the like and put it in an AI script. Then it could learn. That would rock because the computer would find reliable strategies and use them and possibly beat a human with superior learning ability. Why couldn't someone do that for AOK too? that would rock, so why not? I mean I want the computer to be increasingly hard when the computer plays you, I mean, imagine an AI script that anylized your moves and calculates the permutations to beat itself by having itself choose moves and test them against themselves. I mean like a human chessplayer, I heard a study recently that said GrandMasters think diffrently than beginners, that GMs have a depository of useful moves. That would be a good AI script. It might take time and have tons of AI script programmers help over a seperate fourm, I think we could do that. I would like the computer to beat me, even if I beat it easily at first.
