realistic? probly not...

ok ive got it...im gonna be a zabrak or human, and im gonna make weapons. apparently you can make your own insignia for the crap you make so im thinkin ill try to make a reputation.

i have a few questions though:

first, how many different things can i make? i assume (perhaps falsely) that you can be good at like three different professions. but if i just stay on makin stuff, could i make blasters, clothes and armor, but like much better than the norm. it looks to me like rommel here is goin for galactic conglomerate. id rather have a small business but like a great rep. so like rommel is walmart and im a local business...how realistic do you think it is that i could make a reputation?

second, how do we make these insignias? is there gonna be like an in game paint thing or do i have to choose from a list...cause that would suck when you get repeats...if i could do it in a thing similar to paint i could make a pretty cool lookin one.

now that those are out of the way ill go ahead and (foolishly) state that if the opportunity for a jedi mission arrives...im takin it.

what can i say? im a jedi softy.

my last question is how do i stop being bantha "poodoo?"....as it were.

Once you get to 50 posts it will change. It changes every 50 posts.

I guess the possibility of you creating that kind of reputiation depends on the quality and uniqueness of your goods.

I don't know enough about the skill point allocation system yet to say how many areas you can be reasonably skilled in. I also haven't seen any details on how the makers marks are going to work.

Well, if your sh*t is good, i'll buy it :)

great part about SWG is that if u have a skill, and u decide later-on that u dont like it u can remove the skill. This is great cause u can keep the same character when u ahum. Put the skills in the wrong place?

Well I don't know anything about insignia but I do know you can put your name on your object that you make...so like if you make a DL-44 blaster it might be called "Arguille DL-44" or something like that.

Ah and thnx for mentioning me!!

Now as I do understand it, and this'll be important for you, that for beginner designers yes you can make the stuff you design because you can have enough skill points in designing AND manufacturing, BUT>>> and this is a big but, later on, the amount of skill points you need in designing will not let you have enough manufacturing points in order to make that item.

What I am going to be ultimately is a pure manufacturer, I'm going to buy plans from various designers for manufacturing, or give them a percentage off the back end selling cost. After all a lot of designers will be making their guns and whatnots for other characters of their own, made to their specifications, and if one person wants a certain type of blaster, there will be more, and that's where I will come in.

SO....

on the end of the manufacturing line the name on the blaster would be:

Rommel Corp.

Arguile DL-44

hand held blaster

(whatever specializations here).

And of course we would make some sort of contractual agreement about the blaster design, say limit of 100 blasters made at the current agreement of say 15% of the selling cost, if the selling cost is say at a 100% markup from the manufacturing cost, thus of the profit, I first and foremost recap what I put into it, then 15% of the profit goes to you the designer, leaving me with 70% of the gross profit margin for myself. A portion of the profit margin would be incorporated to whatever NPC Vender costs I might have, and of course if there are any taxes you would pay for a portion of those. Or of course I could just pay you say 500 Imp Credits for the design, and sell each blaster for like 150 Credits, or something like that. If the blasters you have designed in the past have sold very well and you are a skilled designer, the percentage off the back end would be better for you, while if you are a unknown designer, and the design is like your first I might just pay a base amount at the front.

Rommel

Designer

Manufacturer

Meglomaniac

Rich Bastard

:naughty:

"Hey kid, wanna buy a blaster?"

Whaa, Rommel, how about you and I sign a contract:

You deliver the blasters, and I will transport them to whereever (sp?) they are needed. Ofcourse you will benifit from a reduced cost. This way, you dont need to worry about transport, and I have a solid (I hope) manufacturer to rely on.

Hmmm, thats not a very big contract, but It'll do for the first 6 months ;)

But the business is not yet complete then, we need someone to sell the goods in their stores, someone to do the marketing, someone to mine the recources, etc.

But it sounds great, and maybe we can expand to other branches of development later (like fighters). Because you can specialize completely in manufacturing you can be a pro in both creating blasters and fighters; this makes for better quality for a reduced cost.

How does that sound?

I am planning on opening my own shop on several words,

get an NPC to work in it. And for my own free time I will transport cargo for my shop and other shops in the galaxy.

So maby I could sell your stuff or something, we'll just have to see :)
