You are wrong , general movie goers didn't like TPM either.

Bad movies are just that : bad movies, and cannot be opinionated, unless you're willing to go in denial ,whitch i suppose is what hardcore fans do.

Sure, those movies aren't exactly as bad as D&D was, and there are reasons to whatch them (saber fights, special effects), but considering the hightbudged spent for them they are nothing but a major screw up, both of them.

I wish George would stop answering questions and let REAL creative people create a more believeable universe...

George's vision is just tainted and I suppose he is begining to go senile. Take the Galaxy away from him before he damages it further!

There is hope for that in the future.

I don't think the franchise will die with Lucas, and there is hope a fan might take the flag and carry the saga to greater heights, like what happen with Lord of the Ring. :)

I seriously hope Lucas will die by that time, Star Wars needs to be directed by a fan, the same way Jackon did Lord of the Ring.

If that's is ever going to happen, i will probably think of Episodo I & II & III as if they never existed :D

...apparently the mouth of George Lucas isn't good enough for you.

I liked TPM, I liked AotC, I don't have these built up concers wrapped around Star Wars. They are good movies, and ultimately they come from the head of George Lucas. If you don't like how they really were meant to be, then you should reevaluate how much you really like the OT. I am, btw, a diehard Star Wars fan, I love it, and I keep an open mind. TPM was a Star Wars movie, through and through, even if it was a different kind.

It was a better movie than, say X-Men, or Superman--which have awesome 'interest' value, but if you actually examine the movies, they're utter garbage. X-Men was just poorly laid out, and Superman focused on all the wrong parts of Superman, and made up the most horribly random things as they went along. Nevertheless, both of these movies brought to life, in a new way, characters we like.

Tell me, in detail, what was wrong with TPM. I'm interested in a detailed list of it's faults. I'm just curious because I have seen bad movies, and it doesn't fit onto my list.

TPM was considered a "bad movie" because of the insane hype behind it. It was psyched up to the point that everybody (even the critics) were expecting some groundbreaking, colossal, deep, powerful movie. Instead, they got what the others were. A fun movie to watch, with spiffy special FX and an interesting story. Basically, it was hyped to death, and had expectations that were impossible to meet.

Did anyone notice that AOTC wasnt nearly as hyped as TPM was? They did this on purpose, I think...

Well, I think thats just lovely that you're wishing death upon someone so that you can go see a good movie or three. Hm, very nice...

I disagree, I don't think it was overhyped, I mean they were just selling seats, and everything just said that Star Wars was back--I don't remember hearing anything that said that it would be the best Star Wars movie to date...

Frankly I think it's people's own fault, for expecting Star Wars to A) be a brand new thing, like the saw in '77--which it couldn't possibly be or B) be exactly as good as the OT was when they were children, which was equally impossible. Lucas didn't let us down, he just made a movie that didn't meet our impossible expectations.

I had the fortune of not becoming a really huge Star Wars fan until I was about 13 or so, and I think that that kept me from glossing the OT over with feelings of childhood wonderment.

Thats more or less what I mean, except the commercial portion of the industry saw this and played on it like crazy. And no, they never said "Best SW movie yet" but it was definitley implied.

Think "Independence Day." It was hyped like mad. Commercials everywhere, elusive trailers showing the White House getting zapped. Even a CNN participation (which looked very real, initally) that smacked of "War of the Worlds." Or was it Fox? I forget. And look what happened. A lot of people came away dissapointed, because they were psyched up to expect the impossible.

Same thing happened with TPM.

I hear you, I guess I just blame the people more than the advertising, I think people would have built the same expectations no matter what. Who really knows, it's hard to use AotC as an example because a lot of people had lowered expectations because of TPM...

i didn't like TPM at all, but i think that despite people's already feeling the need to bitch about episode II, it was actually a good movie.

if you go back and watch the first movies, they too had crappy acting with one or two actors that shined through.

and i think that those of you who think george should making them himself should go screw yourselfs instead of watching his movies, playing games based on his story, etc., because it's HIS. HE made it up, and if you don't like where he's going with it, that's YOUR problem.

Me bieng an original fan who saw all films on day of release (and sometimes before ) have really liked tpm and the aotc . Admittedly i thought aotc was alot better than tpm because tpm was just setting the theme for the rest of the films so that could be what limited it to what it was. aotc on the other hand could make great leaps into the storyline make it more action orientated and more of doom feel of a movie ( a bit like empire but not as good , empire bieng my fave film) .

The only critiscism i have is that george is ripping off the ot and recycling bits from the ot . For example the arm bieng chopped off ( empire and jedi) obi wan and zam in the bar ( anh in the cantina very similar) anakin in the ptm going against the droid ship and destroying it ( luke in anh against the death star) . Do you see what i mean , does anybody else feel the same. Do you think george is running out of original ideas?

He's said before that he has been trying to mirror the original trilogy as to what happens, that it's like a poem, and the stanza's rhyme. Except it's kind of a black mirror, as everything has a darker tint.

I still think it's really cool, for example, that the song at the end of TPM was a variation on the Emperor's theme, it really does put an interesting spin on the end of that movie...I forget where I read that, someone posted it--but if you listen to the two songs, you can hear it.

Anyway, what you've noticed is correct, it's just that it's planned :)

Planned by whom i have a bad feeling about this , mysterious is the dark side clouds everything it does.

bieng serious now i also think he has too much to do now in ep3 to catch up to anh and it will have a rushed feel to it , Anakin should have made the transition to vader at the end of aotc and ep3 could have taken out the rest of the jedi. luke and leia would have been hidden from him and he would have moved on padme in the middle of aotc with the film ending in padme with a mysterious bump at the end credits when she has fallen out with anakin already because he,s gone totally ro the darkside.
