INTERVIEW: Episode II's Amy Allen

Thu, Apr 10, 03 09:22:12 AM EDT

We've got a new interview up in the Jedicouncil Interviews section. This time, Amy Allen, aka Aayla Secura from Episode II. Here's a clip of the interview:

Mark: Any chance we’ll see more of Aayla Secura in Episode III?

Amy: I sure hope so! I have been in both Episode I & II. Third time’s a charm! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Mark: And we along with you! Has Episode II affected your other work? And can you tell us anything else of your other projects?

Amy: Being a part of Episode II has made things very exciting, I spend a lot of time traveling and attending conventions. I have met some really incredible and nice people. One of the coolest things has been meeting Jan Duursema. Jan is the women who draws Aayla and she is a wonderfully kind woman, not to mention SO TALENTED!

Thanks for the heads up leXX! :) I checked it out and it's the interview that Mark Dermul from Teekay-421 the Belgian SW fanclub did with Amy, it's a very cool interview isn't it? :)

P.S.: I took the liberty of using the Aayla avatar you'd made since you switched back to your Trinity avvie. ;)

That's so cool this thread is now 'stuck' leXX. :D Thanks a lot! :D

I linked your wallpaper at theforce.net forums, I'm sure they'll like it as much as we do here. I'll forward any comments for sure. :)

(Yeah I saw the latest 'final' trailer for "The Matrix reloaded", looks awesome. Glad Smith will be back, and back, and back, and back, and back, and back, and back ... :p - I have a few Aayla avatars to choose from no worry. ;) )

For those of you who are interested, the official site, starwars.com has posted an online poll titled "Which of these background Jedi do you want to see again in Episode III?" and one of the possible character vote choices is Aayla Secura. So go over there and vote for Aayla, the blue Twi'lek Jedi Knight character created by Jan Duursema and John Ostrander who saw screen time in Episode II as played by Amy Allen! :)

(Thanks to Joe and Wil for the heads up on this.)

Hey AgentSmith. Looks like I found the place. I was around here on the Sam & Max forums for a little while, can't immagine why I didn't come here.

Anyway, voted, and she's holding steady at 27% behind Plo Koon. Wish Shaak Ti was doing better, but what'are'ya gonna do?

Oh yah, Howdy y'all, I'm Random, Aayla Secura fanatic. That's pretty much it.

Thanks for voting leXX, I really want to see Aayla in Episode III but I also hope they do show all those other great Jedi characters. :) We can hope they'll not only include the most popular one but several of the most popular Jedi characters from that poll. :D

Hey Random, great to see you here, I was bout to link some of your latest fanart that's up at the Aayla fansite. :)

I'll show one for good measure still, you can post more if you like. :)

Here's some of Random's latest fanartworks of Aayla. (At the Geonosis Arena battle.)

Thanks leXX, that looks like a good program, though the price-tag is rather impressive.

Wouldn't know of any software in the more affordable section, would you?

I was reading thru the last 10 pages or so and ran across this.

If you're interested in doing your own art, look at Adobe Photoshop Elements. Its a $100 version of Photoshop. Its got the same major features as the expensive version, but at a normal-human price tag.

I've never used it, so I can't really comment on its functionality, but if you've never used any other art programs you probably won't have any complaints.

Hey, since you're the unofficial ruler of this thread I'll take that as permission to do a major flood of hundreds of megs of links and images... Oh wait, I only have a hand full of pics, here goes:

This was my first Aayla fanart. I had no idea at the time she had such a large and devoted fanbase, i just liked her from the movie. I had yet to read any of the comics. That's my lame first attempt at a Force "effect" up there. It's not detail-art, as you can tell by the completly *wrong* head, but I prefer styalized versions of popular characters.

Here's a much larger wallpaper version: http://members.cox.net/groddahl/Images/Random_Aayla_Secura_01_WP.jpg

Here's a link to the slave outfit that AgentSmith posted earlier: http://members.cox.net/groddahl/Images/Random_Aayla_Secura_02.jpg

I kinda wish I'd have done the bikini-top version from Rite of Passage. I think it looks a little better, but that's just me.

Here's what became a wallpaper sized image. Aayla is on Tatooine, taking off the hot jedi robe she sometimes wears when not adventuring. The background is a screenshot from the upcomming StarWars Galaxies. There is a large transdoshin lurking in that doorway behind her.

My personal favorite at the moment. It was inspired by the Elusion Illusion short story in SW Insider magazine. The art with the story didn't show Aayla in the outfit that was destribed in the story, so I took it apon myself to see what I could come up with. Yah, there's some Bloodrayne in there, but its all about the Aayla! :) Just as I finished this one, I shoehorned in the background texture from and though it would be cool if her lightsaber cast light on her and shadows formed behind her.

And the same image without the light/shadows, so you can see the details.

And the last one I have right now. It was sort of a request from Yodaminch. He wanted to see Aayla in the Battle of Geonosis. Horribly rendered with little to no research to fighting style or which Form she practices, here's what I came up with. I'd hate to be that droid. Good thing I didn't buy him to fight Jedi, I just found him free on Google.

I was dissapointed that most of the details were encoded out when I converted it to .jpg format and resized to reasonable dimensions. So, I croped it into a wallpaper sized closeup of Aayla.

Thanks for the usefull tip Random. :) I've downloaded the Adobe Photoshop demo but couldn't figure out at all how to use it, it was quite complicated. So I might check that Adobe Photoshop Elements out.

Thanks for posting your fanartworks Random. They're all very good and it's great to see how several Aayla fans create such awesome Aayla fanart each with their own distinct style. :)

I like the way you represent Aayla based on the "Elusion, Illusion" story description. I love the outfit detailing in the "Aayla at Geonosis" piece, excellent. :) I look forward to seeing your next fan artwork! :D
