hexiumvii Posted May 22, 2002 Posted May 22, 2002 I might have remembered someone posting this, but since search is gone, i'm not sure. Is there a way?
Bluezman Posted May 22, 2002 Posted May 22, 2002 Well, NPC (Non Player Character) is basically a Single Player term. In Multiplayer they are commonly referred to as Bots. I guess you know how to set up a Multiplayer game, every player that is not set to "HUMAN" is a bot. During the game you can hit <ESC> and click on "Add bot" to add more bots. However, this refers to games that you are the Admin of, so either if you run your own server or you play locally against bots only. You can't join a Multiplayer Game over the Internet and then spawn bots into the map (unless you are the Admin of the server).
BigMexican Posted May 22, 2002 Posted May 22, 2002 npcs in multiplayer would mean co-op singleplayer possibilities
Bluezman Posted May 22, 2002 Posted May 22, 2002 Well, you can do that... just make a Team FFA server or CTF or something. There you have your teamplay...
BigMexican Posted May 22, 2002 Posted May 22, 2002 that's co-op mp, vs either human opponents or simulations of them, as opposed to mp enemies designed to be fought in larger numbers but with less health and skill.
BrainStorm Posted May 22, 2002 Posted May 22, 2002 I still just don't understand why co-op is not in most games. It does not seem that it would take that much to add it when the games are being created.
Bluezman Posted May 22, 2002 Posted May 22, 2002 ummm... I am probably missing the point here, so please help me out Co-op single player would be a single player issue: load a map and spawn allies and enemies. That wasn't the initial question, was it? Maybe hexiumvii just tells us whether his question has been answered yet
