This message is mostly for those of you creating skins -

When spacermonkey sent me a copy of the test skinpack so I could get the latest glm, I found some of the skin image files were in MASSIVE need of compression. I tested all the skins that were in there at jpg quality level 6 (in Photoshop), and there is no noticable difference in visual quality. If you're running photoshop, please run your images through, do a Save As, save it over itself, and set the quality level to 6. Doing this, I was able to compress the skinpack about 4.5x. The original download spacermonkey sent me was 5+ mb, my updated version is only 1.1mb For broadband users, this doesn't really make much difference, but for the dialup people, size is critical. If any of you are unable to do this on you own (if you don't have photoshop or whatever), feel free to e-mail me at bradfu@msn.com and I would be happy to do it for you.

That's 100% wrong. As I said in my previous post, the download spacermonkey sent me was 5+mb, and the updated version is only 1.1mb. Let me clarify now. The original download was a zip file with a pk3 file in it. The new download is a zip file with a pk3 file in it. That means it was double-zipped. The second zipping doesn't do any real compression, just orginazational. The original ZIP was 5+mb. The new zip is 1.1mb. Besides compression, I only removed a couple redundant images, as well as the Lenya images because I need them in a seperate pk3. I then compressed all the remaining images to level 6 in Photoshop. If I had left all the original images in, it probably would have been about 1.3mb or so after zipping.

Thanks for the input, but I wouldn't have posted the information if zipping was able to compress it like that. Image compression DOES make a very big difference.

SpaceMonkey you are spoilling them! :swear: We will end up with forums brats allover the place! :)

Adillon Thanks, I was affraid that no one would have liked my skin since it was a little "off" the traditional twi-lek genre. But has long that there is at least 1 person who appreciate, I am happy and it was well worth it! I will be releasing CTF versions in a while if anybody is interested, then I will stop skinning for a while because I have exams allover the place and my computer room doesn't have airconditioning and 40C is too hot for any creative work. :(

Bradfu, all my textures had no jpg compression :( (12 quality), that was a mistake and in the rush I forgot to recompress them. Photoshop 6 has very nice feature for image compression called "save for web" that lets you monitor very closely visualy the quality of your images before saving. I suggest everybody reduce the size of skins(with this or another). If there was only a 50kb decrease(and its more than that) in size for the 400 skins of jkii.net, it would save them and us 20mb of space! Think about it guys! Thanks bradfu for the reminder and the recompression!

Hapslash. I have sent you a private MSG. shader issues....

That is the version I sent to SpacerMonkey. The drape is not there in game.

Adillion: Thanks man, you really know how to make me feel good. I still don't know how to take that "It is too pink" comment. BTW: Do you skin/model yourself?

Mhh guess my last post got deleted or something? Oh well. :p

What I wanted to say is I played JK II JO all day yesterday with the Aayla model/skins and it's totally awesome!!! :D Yay!!! They tried to pry me away from it but nothing helped!!! I'm hooked. :D

To spacermonkey, nano, bradfu, hapslash, all you guys who contributed to the model/skins, thanks a lot for making them and sharing them with us, it's just awesome man!!! I appreciate that! :):D

Nano! Wassup with you man!?! Your skin is totally scary man! (In a good way. ;) )First time I did a multiplayer FFA with your skin as a bot in it and that Sith Twi'lek came attacking me! I did what every good Jedi would do ... I ran like hell!!! So scary! :p j/k (In truth she looks tougher and scarrier than Desann does, that's a compliment.)

Here's a noob question. How do you make screenshots shwoing the front of your player character? (Like pud1 did there?) I never figured that out. Thx.

Thanks remark666! :)

Spacermonkey thanks again man, it looks really great and awesome. If you're still going to tweak it, wow! The current version is already da bomb! :D

I'd help you with your website if I knew how but sadly I don't. :( Wish I could help but I don't know anything about html and website building. :(

Anyways the model is great!

After playing with the Aayla model/skin I just decided I had to see Episode II again to check out all her scenes. :) And to check her out but hey. :p;) Luckaly we have a theatre nearby that has the Digital projected version. :)

Anyone notice how Aayla (Amy Allen) wiggles her hips in the Jedi Temple scene where Obi-Wan goes to Yoda's class? :D

(Better go take a cold shower I guess ... mhhh :( )

Awesome model spacermonkey! Thanks! Can't wait for the real version! I don't know how some of the skins got in the skinpack though. Well, good thing windows has a recycle bin :p. (ok, that was harsh, but come on! I still could see the texture map on one of them!) That said, my fav is Aayla! Aaaaayyylaaaaa!

*emulates Agentsmith and sneaks up on girlfriend with bucket'o'blupaint*:D :D :D
