Wow, ALIEN_JL! Breathtaking!

Although I absolutely admire Spacemonkey's excellent job on the model, I have to admit that your skin just makes it complete. Very lifelike and appealing. Definitely an improvement.

The straps on that lekku look very bad. you have a shadow coming from the top and bottom. It makes the straps just sit there and look like they are completely flat and they need to have some depth. Add highlights to bring out those edges. Also, those eye brows are waaay to thick. Even if she just waxed her brows and filled them in with liner they would not look that "pasted on"

Very nice Alien_JL, I think you're really close to the movie Aayla Secura now. :) Very impressive indeed.

Hapslash, your version looks really good too. :) Especially the detail even at such a close-up shot. :)

(Two details though since you said you're aiming to have it more like the movie version of Aayla Secura. The movie Aayla Secura does not have the tattoos on her lekku like the cartoon one does. And also Aayla Secura/Amy Allen has brown eyes -with a tad of green-, you have bluegrey eyes on yours.) :) Just trying to help and be constructively supportive. :)

And fyi the wide eyebrows on the movie Aayla Secura is because of the make-up, since Amy is largely covered in blue make-up her eyebrows are very much enhanced and darkened. (Also for contrast on the face with the blue tone I guess.)

You can see in pictures of Amy without Aayla make-up her eyebrows aren't that large or pronounced.

spacermonkey, I've read all of the posts that you've made on this thread about the development of your Aayla model but I don't see any explanation of how you managed to animate the lekku. For those of us that aspire to make similar models (long hair, pony tails, etc) can you give a hint as to how you managed this? Did you weight the lekku to some unrelated bone, like the arms or legs, to pull this off?

I was wondering the same thing...

wait until I release the aayla model again, Aliens skin will be included :D

I think it would be great defualt skin for her.

Lekku - I weighted them to the arms and a combination of the head- upper lumber etc. you just have to plwy with the weights until you reach something that your happy with, of course heavy stance can cause a few problems with them but having them move is worth a few minor distortions.

Before I built Aurra Sing I built those models Droidekas, I doubt I'll be putting them in jk2, they'd need alot of work to get them to fit in well, but maybe someday. I've got a custom character planned and once I've finished with the concept work I'll post something.

Hey monkey, quick question! Did you use jpgs or bmps for the finished textures in the pk3? (maybe i should look but eh, ill guess ill look if i dont get an answer) Anyways, wouldnt the blur be caused by the compression in jpg? Couldnt you eliminate this by using tga or bmp? I think its worth a try, heh..;)

There is no difference in quality between very high quality jpg and tgas. I experienced a lot with jpg compression. Unfortunately I see quality drop in photoshop jpg compression bellow level 10. Very small, but very annoying depending on the level of detail of the skin. It is not noticable ingame though and everything above level 6 looks identical. I will post a screenshot.

Errm, well depends on the face skin maybe not much, but little details like the dots on the lekku should show bluring. I think you should try tga or bmp, if im not mistaken thats what most people used for q3 models. Heh, just noting that i guess.. i know i'd want my work at the highest quality, even if it does add a few extra pounds. ;)

Thanks for the response spacermonkey. I hope that in the future if you decide to upgrade your (very useful) modeling tutorial that you will include some of these more advanced techniques. I would like to express my appreciation for the information you have been providing the community. I can't recall any of the other early modelers producing any form of tutorial for the rest of us - props to you spacermonkey!

Can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve for Aayla spacermonkey. :)

(I'm not trying to nag, I am patient and all just wanted to show my enthusiasm and appreciation for your work. :D I usually only play JKIIJO with the Aayla model/skin these days. ;) )
