NemoX
I'm still a SW n00b so plz don't flame me for this Question. I know this much that Palpatine and Sidious are one in the same, my question is how did Sidious come to be? Did Palpatine somehow become Sidious or had Sidious been around a while then decided to become Palpatine so he could be a member of the senate and cause the chaos he is causing now? Silver Quasar
From what I have heard, Palpatine decided he needed an excuse to make a clone army, so he made the Droid army under the alias of Sidius (Dooku?) to pretend that the Republic needed to counter attack. MJ
Quasar is right. Sidious and Palpatine are the same person. It's like having a secret identity. He used the threat of the droid army to justify bringing in the clones. It was all a big ploy he played. Pretty clever, but rather confusing. Dooku was just his lacky, from what I can see. Jeez I really hate this l33t crap.
Nebelwerfer_
Yes, we all know sidious is palpatine, but the question still stands... "why is lucas still keeping it ambiguous?" He can't think we're that stupid. Even though all the evidence points to them being the same person, I wouldn't be surprised if lucas threw in a twist in EPIII
MJ
I think what he's trying to do is keep it in order context. Remember, the original trilogy was set after the new one. So if we were watching it in order and if they were made in order, this revelation of Sidious and Palpatine being the same person would be a total surprise. BlackDove
Ok, this is how I think it turns out, based on the information from the official Star Wars stories. Palapatine stumbles across the Holocron which held Sifa-Dyas's powers, and since Palapatine was a polititian, he immedatly turned it into evil. However all that power was destroying him, so he had to keep a mass of clones somewhere (I don't know exactly where, but it is in a specific place). Each time his body would die, some machine would turn over his last consensuss to the clone. That way, he was immortal. And Palapatine is just one of the clones that Sidious is controlling. Again, I'm not sure, but that looks like the best explanation to me.
Jaster21801
hmmm... possible... but I'd still be willing to bet that Sidious and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine are never at two different places at the same time... but what do I know?
MotionMan
Palpatine always stays in courasant. He uses dooku to do his handywork. If he needs to comunicate with anyone he uses the hologram comunicator thing. He is always at courasant. This is based on the movies not any of the EU mumbo jumbo. It seems I have to be obvious cause most of what is posted here has something to do with the EU universe. All this clone emperor thing is all part of the EU mind state. The emperor cant have a clone. He would have to put in the order to clone him self like 20-30 years ago so the clone can be at the same age as him-even witht he accelerated growth tecniques. I doubt that he cloned himself 20-30 years ago, but if your a fan of the books then you REALLY want to beleive that, go ahead. Just dont be cursing lucas when it doesnt go that way. Nebelwerfer_
I agree, sooner or later EU is going to clash with the GL new prequels so hard that people will just have to drop the EU just to keep their sanity. If you dont believe me then think about the whole boba/jango fett contradictions.
