Episodes 7-9

Yeah I would think it to be following up on Luke's recreation of the Jedi order mainly....that alongside the creation to the new republic. Too bad George is such a tightwad, or he would allow other filmakers to expand the universe after hes done with it. I mean those star trek ninnies get a new movie every few years, and they have series to watch.

Well the reason it is twenty years after is because there are all the books. It's kind of hard to write a series when the first book starts right after ROTJ, and another each year after that. So the most logical place to put it is at the end of all the books.

And not all of the Star Trek movies and series are that good either.

yeah but everything coming from george lucas isnt necessarily a good thing =P

and i agree...some star trek movies arent all that great. but every single one of them has a coherent plot that ties in with the greater scope....the best star trek movies arent as good as the original SW trilogy imo....but the SW prequels arent much better than the worst star trek movies.

I'm tellin ya lucas will make eps 7-9 if he is still alive by then.

He's been directly quoted as having said that he does not want to spend the end of his days making Star Wars, and that that is what he would have to do.

I was told that recently Lucas was quoted as saying that he had started to change his mind about doing 7,8 and 9 but due to the fact that the movies are not as popular as he had hoped, he scraped the sequels yet again. BUT He may be willing to hand the series over to someone else if the demand for them is strong enough. As it is, there has been a slight hint that a live action or animated TV series may happen in the years to come after the films are done. But this is only a rumor so far.

I was given the impression from the first book of the Thrawn Triology, that those three books were supposed to be ep. 7,8,9.

Quote: "Now, for the first time: the authorized continuation of the legendary Star Wars saga..."

But then again, it could just be a bunch of bull.

I think the original trilogy was brough very neatly to a close at the end of RotJ. Remember that the 6 episodes are essentially a story about anakin, how he starts off good, turns to evil but then sees the error of his ways. Episodes 7-9 just wouldn't fit in that scheme.

And will people please stop going on about the sodding EU (in reference to the films). In in episode 3, if lucas says that the death star was designed by an Ewok on speed, thats who designed it.

I heard that final three episodes would involve the cloning of Luke AND Vader by a group of Dark Jedi (Not Sith, just Dark Jedi) so that they would fulfill the prophecy of ruling the galaxy as father and son. This is said to take place about 30 years after ROTJ.
