U235
i really enjoyed Yoda fighting Dooku in ep II but personally i think Luke vs Vader in ep VI is the greatest. that fightwas even at a greater pace than Yoda-Dooku and still no cgi where you can do exactly as you want it to appear but this is really good choreography. Avernus
Luke vs Vader in Ep. VI seems more dramatic, even though the choreography/effects is less sophisticated than the newer movies. Maybe it's because I was young when I first saw Ep. VI and so it had more impact than seeing I and II now.
ObiLuke
ObiWan versus Darth Maul after Qui Gon's death ! It's definitly the best saber fight ever ! Fast, agressive, and ... FAST
Norin Radd
Episode 1 with Obi-wan, Qui-Gon, and Darth Maul. Mainly because I had never seen a double ended lightsaber before.

Rogue Nine
Multiple fight: Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul. Absofreakylutely the best fight evah. One on one: Yoda vs. Count Dooku. The little guy can move.
xX-Ender-Xx
I agree with ObiLuke, I liked Obi Wan vs. Maul because it was really fast and they were constantly attacking, also Maul's double lightsaber made it even better. But i liked it when qui gon was still alive when they fought...
Havoc Stryphe
I have to go with Episode 6: Return of the Jedi Luke vs. Darth Vader saber duel. VADER: "You cannot hide forever, Luke." LUKE: "I will not fight you." VADER: "Give yourself to the dark side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for . . . " Vader stops and senses something. Luke shuts his eyes tightly, in anguish. VADER: "Sister! So . . . you have a twin sister. Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps she will." Luke ignites his lightsaber and screams in anger. LUKE: "NOOOOO!" Luke rushes at his father with a frenzy we have not seen before. Sparks fly as Luke and Vader fight in the cramped area. Luke's hatred forces Vader to retreat out of the low area and across a bridge overlooking a vast elevator shaft. Each stroke of Luke's sword drives his father further toward defeat. The Dark Lord is knocked to his knees, and as he raises his sword to block another onslaught, Luke slashes Vader's right hand off at the wrist, causing metal and electronic parts to fly from the mechanical stump. Vader's sword clatters uselessly away, over the edge of the platform and into the bottomless shaft below. Luke moves over Vader and holds the blade of his sword to the Dark Lord's throat. Now that's drama! This scene just gives me chills with John William's final duel theme playing in the background, the sabers clashing and sparking, the rage in Luke's face as he swings and SWINGS and SWINGS until Vader's hand goes flying and Luke stands there realizing how close he came... GAWD, that's just awesome!
Jaster21801
Actually, if I remember correctly (from a couple of days ago) Luke screams "Never!" but it does sound like "No" too... I wonder who'll scream "No" in Ep III.... Anyway, my favorite duels were Maul vs. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan/Obi-wan and Obi-Wan and Anakin/Yoda vs. Dooku... granted, the fight with Obi-Wan and Anakin was quick, but Anazkin's sabering in the dark was cool
SteveDallas
Obi-Wan vs Darth Maul after Qui-Gon's death is great. Watched it slow-mo on DVD to see all the moves - awesome. But taht's just part of a duel. I think the whole Darth Maul vs Obi-Wan&Qui-Gon duel was my favorite. Episode II's duels were good, but too short. I would have liked to seen Anakin put up a better fight vs Dooku with the two seperate sabers. They could have doubled the length of that fight (and doubled Yoda's fight) and it wouldn't have detracted or slowed down the movie. Luke vs Vader - great for the story, but as far as a duel goes, it's more of a lumberjack chopping down a tree than a real duel between two swordsman (saberman). xX-Ender-Xx
I agree with Steve Dallas, the Ep. II duels were good but they were way too short, especially with anakin vs. dooku...
U235
i respect your opinions and i must say i did also enjoy the scenes you talk about but none of them has the same feeling with intense emotions like Luke-Vader.... especially with such nice music in the background when they are fighting.... gives that special mood you don't get anywhere else in the other movies... xX-Ender-Xx
Ya thats a good good opinion, i liked that battle alot too... Especially when Luke cut his hand off, you knew it was over for Vader...
SteveDallas
Luke vs Vader was the best for the story line, climaxed the OT. It was more powerful that the "final" battle between Luke and Palpatine. When Luke v Vader ended, you wanted to pump your fist in the air and shout "YEAH!!!" My comment on the Episode I duels was based on the duel itself, not its place or siginificance in the story. In Episode I, you get the feeling that they were truely masters of the saber. In OT, you don't get the feel of two masters of the art of saber fighting. xX-Ender-Xx
ya thats true, for the vader vs. luke fight it was more about the story line and where it took place. For the Obi vs. Maul fight it was more of the fight itself that was good....
Cow_JK:O
At the same time though, The EP1 end fight lacked purpose. We knew very little about Darth Maul and from a viewer standpoint (non-fan, we're speaking objectively here), we didn't really care about Darth Maul, or even Qui-Gon Jinn for that matter. The lack of character development in Ep1 for all the characters made the final duel horribly anti-climatic, although it was certainly an impressive duel by itself. xX-Ender-Xx
We knew very little about Darth Maul I know what you mean, Darth Sidious just said like, (this is not a quote from movie) "Iv'e trained you well, now go kill these Jedi" And that's how Maul got into it.... The Vehicular Jedi
Definately ROTJ had the most impact with the lightsaber fight. I remember the first time I saw it, I was only 8 years old. I've seen it many times since, and it is definately the emotion the carries the battle. Sure, it is very lumberjackish, but if you tie in the music, the visuals, and the emotion, it's an astonishing piece of work. In fact the entire ending battle when you see Luke suffer is extremely emotional. You don't seem to get that kindof emotion whatsoever in the new Episodes. Even with the Tusken murder, it tries, but fails. ROTJ FOREVER!
xX-Ender-Xx
Maybe lucas is starting to think we don't like that kind of stuff so he took out more of the emotion and more action instead... Just a thought....

Emperor_Sith
Well...choreografy speaking I'd have to say Kenobi vs Maul. Fast frenzy speaking Yoda vs Dooku BUT, Fellings, hatred love, sinister Emperors...well nothing like the oldies newies...EpV and EpVI the duels between father and son. Impressive...most impressive. Now I just wait to see little Ani aka Vader slaughter his former fellow Jedi in Ep III!
