But it all boils down to the fact that Good prevails over Evil in showbiz

and eventually dooku will get pwned in Three and we can all

make fun of how Jar Jar, the goofy gungan, accidently turned on

dooku's light saber whilst it was in his pants or something of

that matter

Maybe I missed something, but doesn't Evil triumph over Good in this trilogy?...

i would have to say that, obviously, both characters have plusses and minuses, strengths and weaknesses, etc. Maul looks scary as hell and a scary-looking young guy with tattoos and horns and two lightsabers stuck together is damn intimidating.

dooku's name is not as scary, but then remember he was count dooku only to the public who thought him nothing more than a former jedi-turned-separatist. in reality he gave up that identity when he entered the sith order and became darth tyranus. that name is scarier. you can't just go on name alone though, obviously. dooku has studied both light and dark side so he would probably have a slight advantage there just by knowing both sides of the force. he dresses a little nicer, which kinda makes it look like he's afraid to get his cape wrinkled or his tunic stained with the SPURTING BLOOD OF AN ENEMY SLAIN BY HIS SABER!!!!!!!!!!!

dooku is also older looking...maybe he wears those adult diapers underneath his clothes, hehehe

****, i need to get more sleep...

Maul took on a 2 jedi masters (if you not that qui-con thought obi was able to take the trails before the battle)

and He killed one and almost got the other.

Actually, Dooku took on a Jedi Knight, a Padawan, and the Jedi Master, Yoda. Maul took on a Jedi Master and his apprentice.

Maul would kick Dooku's wrinkly old butt. Maul was trained to fight against other jedi just as Dooku was. but Maul has two blades and is much stronger and faster than Dookie. remember that Maul killed a Qui Gon who was Dooku's padawan at one time. Maul was only beaten by Obi Wan because he was not expecting such a ferocious attack. bottom line:

Maul kicks arse - Dooku crappy old guy

:ewok:

dooku 30 years ago would get his white ass chopped to pieces by the pimpin' maul. i mean, COME ON, HIS NAME IS MAUL!!! DOOKU SOUNDS LIKE FUKIN COUNT CHOCULA. THE FUK WITH DOOKU- I H8 HIM!!!!!!

Count Dookus dark side name is Darth Tyranus. So if it would really be Maul against Tyranus if the names are so damn important.

think your right ;)

but anyway if we look at how Maul fights and Dooku fights ie. speed, agility, strength and such i would say Maul would win... but if we counts Skill with then Dooku would win no matter what... he is well trained in the old lightsaber vs. lightsaber style (can't remember what it is called) and uses a lightsaber made to go along with that style...

and with the part where Maul almost takes out Qui-Gon on tatooine then remember that Qui-Gon was totally taken off by surprise that he saw an enemy fighting with a Lightsaber and using the force, that he couldn't fight proper

Hmm, well maul has shown himself to be a giant-killer (a sith APPRENTICE taking down a Jedi Master that could have been on the Jedi Council) I wouldn't write him off so soon. Looking at the fights...

In TPM Maul is taking on two opponents at once, and has plenty of time to work in some insulting sabre twirls, concentrating on Qui-gon and basically ignoring Obi-Wan. He never looks in danger of losing (even with Obi-Wan raging at him, he recovers and drops Obi over the edge) until that really poor ending.

Dooku functions much the same against a less proficient Master and his apprentice, though he uses his force powers to even the odds, suggesting that his sabre skills might not be up to taking on two opponents at once. As for Dooku's style being useful against melee opponents, I don't think that he would be prepared to face a double-bladed lightsabre user!

So on force mastery alone, Dooku wins

Sabre only, Maul wins.

Yoda could take either one!

So far this has been a good thread so far, the only thing I want to add is most of are assuming on one issue. That is a lot of you think Maul has no force ability aside from push. Maybe he had the lightning, but chose not to use it. He figured, "I can get the job done with my lightsabre". There's very little reason why Sidious woudn't teach Maul that ability. Sidious in Episode 1 was very confident in Maul's ability to handle Obi and Qui-gon when he sent them and his judgement is we all know is pretty good.

dooku cooler then maul? that is the most pathetic statement i have EVER heard. Dooku is a 60 year old piece of garbage that doesnt even belong in the SW world. I think he would beat Maul, but Dooku is a lame character. Was he even in the SW books? He doesn't scream "evil" as vadar and maul did

Oh yeh, A jedi needs further notice before a fight

Plus Maul wasn't wearing his "im a sith about to slice you" sign that day

Oh and Qui-con saw a speeder approching and thought it to be

an old lady with face tattoes in a black robe

People who refer to Darth Maul as a Sith Apprentice as if that makes what he did somehow more impressive, need to wisen up to the fact that Dooku is a Sith Apprentice and that Darth Vader was a Sith Apprentice.

Yeah, and when Obi-Wan jumped over Maul giving him all the time in the world to cut him down, Obi's 'Enemy Jedi' sign must have fallen down the shaft...

LOL!

Anyway, as said in the movie the Sith has been extinct for a milennia, what would you do if you suddenly finds out that your arch enemy have been alive all those years?? + in the book about TPM there stands written that Qui-Gon was taken by surprise a dark attacker wielding a lightsaber no less... remember that even the Jedi Council didn't believe it first when Qui-Gon said he was attacked by a dark warrior....

i think dooku (actually tyranus) has more going for him than some might think. i think he was deliberately deceiving obi-wan, yoda, and the rest as to how evil he really was. no one save sidious knew the total depth of dooku's treachery and his membership in the sith order.

i seem to recall him messing with obi-wan's head. they get in a saber lock when they're fighting. if you focus on dooku's face, you can see that he's grinning like mad and his eyes are really popped out. he looks totally nuts. obi-wan thinks that he's going to break the saber lock himself and dooku almost lets him, then pushes down obi's saber and wounds him.

maul, on the other hand, might be able to catch dooku's lightning on his lightsaber and spare himself damage, then whip back some lightning of his own.
