I'd like to add my free .02 cents.

First, I'm athiest. i do not believe in god, or organized religion. I'll explain the two.

First, GOD. There is no god. not one. he was invented to conrtol the simple minded folk to do what ever the upper class wanted.

but who was the upper class?

The Priests. who were in organized religions. hmmm... interesting no?

Organized religion has made some people to some crazy shizznit over the years. In fact, religion organized a sizable attack force to go into the middle east and control territory though brain washing young men. 3 or 4 times, if i recall. they were the crusades. But, methinks that broke a commandment. hmmm....

Also, if i recall, Jesus HIMSELF didn't like organized religion. so, why go agaiinst your own prophet? seems a little... odd. if not wholeheartedly disturbing, that humans would do that just for power.

For me I was too afraid to express myself with clothing or make up or anything like that. I often seethed in silence and that's just it. Most gothic people *are* expressing themselves. They have some outlet. It's the normal looking kids...no way to express themselves...and often when they try they get even more crap. So all they can do is try to fade into the background. That leaves alot of time for *thinking* and thinking about your misery leads to hatred. I was close to the point of snapping when I got kicked out of school for missing too many days. I was getting awfully bold towards the end. Heh...

I don't think it's that they don't have a way to express themselves...it's just they choose not to wear what they think but act it out in some way. The quiet ones are the ones who have no way of expressing themselves socially, so some choose to go goth. But then there are some who stay anti social for their whole life...I'm not sure how that works, but with no friends, it's easy to become unstable.

Um...excuse my double posting.

I believe there is a god. Why? I believe we all have to have come from somewhere, and every other theory seems like a bunch of BS. Also, 95% of the people in the world believe in God. If the word of God managed to be passed down from generation to generation, then there must be some truth to it. It's also just those feelings I get of something higher...that's what I believe.

As for Jesus...not everyone is going against there own prophet, some people, like me, don't even believe in Jesus. I think Jesus was some guy with a big social gift that was good at speaking, and he appointed himself to preach about god. I'm not sure if he ever intended people to worship him because I don't know too much about the new testament.

I was one of those normal kids that explode, only I got kicked out of school before I did. I found a way to express myself so if I had gone back it wouldn't have happened. But when you have no outlet, one day it forces it's way out. So yeah, it is that they don't have a way to express their pain and anger.

About your thing about being passed down from geration to generation, well so have many fairy tales, and myths and ledgends. But many of them are not true. In fact, ALL of the myths and ledgends are not true. Lochness, dragons, are proved false.

And yes, some scientist managed to create the primordial soup from which life on this planet originated. He found basic protiens which COMPRISE THE BASIC GENETIC CODE FROM WHICH ALL LIFE IS DERIVED. oh yes, Evolution is true. not too mention all the fossile evidence.

Jesus may or may not have been a true prophet. Personally, i think he was a really cool scammer. *shrug*

@Cracken: God was certainly not invented by the upper class. :eyeraise: First time I've ever heard that...

Well, I dunno where you got that...because myths and legends all have some basis in fact. That's an accepted fact amongst historians by now. Loch ness monsters have not been proven false. Same with dragons (or something like them, like surviving dinosaurs, if you want to get into the realms of cryptozoology)

And no...no one has managed to recreate primordial soup. Even if they thought they did, they couldn't prove that it was primordial soup, nor could they disprove the existence of a God. In fact, doesn't the similarites that all life forms share with each other give you the idea that they had the same creator?

The theory of evolution is by now almost universally accepted in one form or another (in scientific circles). But most people call what could be more properly called "modern Darwinism" "Evolution", and get it mixed up with the actual theory of evolution itself. Most Christians with an interest or expertise in science (and there are many, many of them) believe that God started things off as told in Genesis, including creating the process of evolution to allow things to adapt (to polar climates, deserts, etc). (Just and FYI, though, there isn't any solid fossil evidence for the evolution on the scale commonly imagined...missing links are called missing for a reason ;))

Side note: I don't consider myself a follower of "organized religion"...I'm a Christian but just because mainstream Christianity thinks it's right doesn't mean it is...nor do I subscribe to the Catholic school of thought...etc...and that would be my mini rant for today :D

EDIT: And I think we should get back on topic...I only posted this because...I dunno...cuz I'm airheaded :D but anyway...^_~

Religion and beliefs do have much to do with the topic. Kids who are lost and confused usually don't know who or what to believe about life, existance, and the world...that was/is me, kind of lost...I still don't know what to believe exactly because I don't know enough to base my beliefs off something and to have evidence and support for what I believe.

Well yes, back to the topic...
