TheJackal
Hey everybody! I'm curious to know if there is a way to convert a few Div-X I own into some VCDs so I can play it on my DVD player. I know it can read VCDs, mainly because its an american brand, but I'm curious if I can convert my div-xs (dvd rips) into VCDs.

matt--
You're right. Warez isn't allowed here...now if you owned these DVDs, and just wanted to make legitimate backups, which I'm sure is what you meant, then there isn't a problem.

Zindell
You have to have a compatible DVD player that plays vcd's.
igor
First of all VCD is nothing like a DVD, the fact they are both on a CD looking thing is the only similarity. It is impossible to put a DVD on a VCD, VCDs don't hold nearly as much as a DVD. So to whom ever said he was breaking a rule or whatever you are totally wrong. VCD needs MPEG-1 encoding, resolution of 352x240 at 29.97 fps (NTSC).
MasterD-LeyAmas
Hey, Da Man, just curious, but how the hell did you get your data to say registered since dec 1969?
Zindell
I doubt he will tell us this. Pretty cool though.
Chastan
The early versions of the forums didn't record the date of registration. When upgraded it put in those dates for all the old users. PS you can have VCDs span multiple CDs.... so you COULD have DVD -> VCD in all it's glory, just over tons of CDs
Zindell
Usually Two. But if you wanna span it over 8000 20 second VCDs go ahead
Chastan
Well, I just meant if you do the full DVD quality in MPEG-1 instead of MPEG-2 or whatever it is.... 2-3 CD VCD burns are usually great though.

Which isn't illegal. Unless those Divx files were illegally pirated movies. They aren't are they, Jackal?
TheJackal
Of course they are not illegal. I have Gladiator on DVD and my brother is moving out and wishes to have a backup of it. It belongs to the family and since a member of the family is moving away I would say it makes sence for him to own a back up (as I would call it... a copy). So nothing illegal is going on. I do not support any illegal activities and hope that all people who DO illegal stuff be hunted down like the dogs they are hehe. But seriously, its a back up. its not illegal. The proof is that VCDhelp.com. If making a back up was illegal that site would be shut down and I wouldn't of started a thread about this. Thanks for the help. And since this thread has lost its purpose... I'm closing it
